Was anyone else watching the blue wave Prizm Joe Burrow auction that ended tonight? The person who won it for $315 must have had a high bid of about $1850 bid $1900 on his second account so the auction sat at $1900 for the final 15 minutes then retracted his bid of $1900 with 3 seconds left and won it for $315.

eBay really needs to not allow any bid retractions in the final 3-4 hours of the auction ending its ridiculous that buyers can do this - I’ve seen it done on a lot of Luka auctions to get cards cheaper than they should.

For reference Herbert Blue Wave sold for $1,200 and Tua goes for $500-$600. Cost the seller a couple hundred bucks at least.

That is shady. Someone should contact the seller before he ships as he has only (4) transactions and might not even know what happened to him.

I sent him a note and he said a few other people already warned him too he’s been talking back and forth with me asking what the best process is etc. I basically said don’t ship anything and call and speak to someone at eBay directly about it to report the buyer.

This has been happening more and more lately. Ebay should ban those accounts. It's intentional

would be great to find out the user id of the buyer.

OP, if you are in contact with the seller, ask them for the buyers ID

Someone did the same thing to me. The buyer claimed to have no idea what happened. Ironically the same copy of the card I was selling got hit for a super high best offer($800) while my auction was sitting at $1200. The bid was retracted and it fell to $300. It may not be the buyer as much as it is a scumbag seller out there.

But two people have to have bid the super high price - that only works if the current high bidder / winner had bid $1800 on this card.

We've discussed it before on blowout. Search for "shielding" or "shield bidding"

Way to funny. I was watching a Zion Williamson red /125 and the same thing just happened a few minutes ago. I posted that in the basketball page. Exact same buyer won the auction after bid was retracted from 3900. The guy that was winning before canceling somehow had his id listed as private not sure how they did that

This.

One guy. Two accounts.

First account bids a high amount. Second account bids and absurd amount. Now card shows at a higher then normal price. Other bidders stay away because card is above market.

Now account 2 retracts bud. Since most the activity was with these two accounts, the last ‘real’ bid is generally wayyy below market.

Buyer magically ‘doesn’t know what happened’ and then threatens to neg seller over not following through on the sale. Call eBay, report it, it’s a policy violation. Generally when you let the buyer know that you know this....they disappear quickly,

It happens all the time. That’s why I only buy and sell via best offer.

I’m still confused on how bidders are retracting with seconds to go...is that if you bid within the last hour of the auction you can retract any time?
