Wanted to see everyones opinion on this years Bowman Draft... I will start by saying that i think this is a really good class for several reasons. I think most of these guys are long term holds, the days of the quick flip/turn in MLB i believe is over. Most of the guys that are goingbto be good (value) arent going to be households names for 5-6 years vs 2-3 in previous drafts.

Minor leagues are going to only develop talent they can see making to the show, all others (lifetime) minor leaguers are a thing of the past. I think 2020 and this years Bowman marks the starting point in players that will be relative in the hobby industry. With this being said i still think pitchers will continue to not get hobby love.

I have a few players that i really like, any thoughts i would love to hear it.

No particular order

-Spencer Torkelson
-Nick Gonzales
-Milan Tolentino
-Jordan Walker
-David Calabrese
-Werner Blakely

"Life-timers" will still have a place in the world. They still have to fill out rosters down in the minors.

There are alot of players that arent relevant in the hobby, thats what i consider lifetimers in the minors

This release is diluted with pitchers that have ceilings as bullpen arms.

For a significantly abbreviated draft, I was shocked they upped the auto count by so many. However, given Topps' clear opportunity to cash in on a hyper-inflated card market right now, in hindsight, it makes perfect sense.

Sure, there are still some exciting names, some of whom you mentioned. But it's likely harder to hit on those guys with this year's release.

Many others have echoed similar sentiments in other threads.

I didn't do a deep analysis this year, but my hunch is this year's draft is not as good than 2019 or 2017...before factoring in 118 autos.

The only kid I have my eye on from this years draft is Evan Carter but thats more because we are from the same small town and I worked with the baseball team while he was playing. Hoping he actually pans out

I think the auto list is too long.. but that being said, the color autos in these cases have been awesome... instead of getting Base Auto of Crappy player.. now you are at least getting colored autos of the crappy players

Hard to say what players will be crappy and which will not be (especially with no minors in 2020). Only guarantee is that a bulk of these players will not have long major league careers.

I think this is a great point. This is the first Draft product that has the audience of all the new guys in the hobby (me included), and it seems like the single prices reflect that. Third/Fourth round hitters even have some pretty good value. I'm sure a lack of minors season impacts that, but worth noting for the next few months.

My break group has done 60 cases and they are still snap filling.
