23 years later it is complete!

I fell in love with this set when I first saw them way back in 1997 unfortunately as a 10 year old I did not have enough money to get any - especially when I really wanted to bust wax - well 23 years later I got the Frank Thomas in the mail and it was the last card I needed. It’s not a crazy rare set and not super expensive but I slowly picked them up and eventually got them all!

I also commend the perseverance. In 1997 and 1998, I started a couple of football parallel sets (Topps Gallery Private Issue and Leaf R&S True Blue), but I gave up after a few years, figuring it was going to take forever to complete them. It’s funny to look back and realize I probably could’ve completed them by now!

I also commend the perseverance. In 1997 and 1998, I started a couple of football parallel sets (Topps Gallery Private Issue and Leaf R&S True Blue), but I gave up after a few years, figuring it was going to take forever to complete them. Hundley hit more HR's in a season than Mike Piazza ever hit. His 41 HR was tied with Beltran as a team record until Alfonso broke it. He deserved to be in that insert set for his peak, even though he does seem out of place.

Good point. But those insert sets ALWAYS had the same cast of players, it got boring. Its nice to see some much needed variety for a change.

Exactly! They aren't the most valueable but they have a special place in my memory of my childhood for sure.

Between baseball and basketball there are no shortage of insert sets that can be completed without having to spend more than $50 on any one card that look amazing.

Here is my progress on 97 Hot Gloves so far! These are a little pricier but still a really cool set. But on the plus side - only 15 instead of 20 in the set!
