eBay Seller sent message asking for contact info

SIAP:

I won item on eBay and sent immediate payment this morning. Seller then sent me a message on eBay asking for my contact info. A couple of details:

Seller's feedback is good, but all of it is as a buyer. They actually have one negative as a seller but it doesn't alarm me. Seller is also shipping from Asia and thinks he needs it because he is shipping from outside of the U.S.

Sale price on item was realistic and done via auction so no scam there. I have bought plenty from overseas sellers on eBay, including from this sellers country, and no other seller has ever asked me for contact info.

Seller even sent me screenshot of my name and address, so what other info would he need? Phone number? If so, why?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

yeah im pretty sure i was asked this before too and was also sketched out, i think i even made a post. But i do believe this was the reason.

I did contact eBay directly about this and they acknowledged that the request is odd.

Another seller asked me for the same information. Apparently, their post office has updated their web system and is asking for more info such as a phone number and email address.

I'm located in Canada and am required to provide the buyers phone # on all shipments with tracking.

Yep. Had to contact a customer for this too but a quick faq search I was able to find it by clicking around

How you gonna get the information when ebay forbids/bans/censors it being passed?
