Just trying to gauge overlap in Hobby-NBA fan Venn diagram.

Yes, I'm a basketball fan first and foremost.

Are there people that collect b ball cards and watch zero games?

I try to watch modern nba but it’s just not that easy on the eyes. More box score and trends with current players. I am a diehard fan of 90s nba which ultimately always brings me back. I can make it through a couple quarters a week. But I find myself watching 89-93 bulls games on YouTube quite often all things considered.

Need to be able to select multiple lol. I tend to miss a lot of East Coast teams either because I don’t care (NYK, CHA, etc), or they start before I’m done with work, so I just look at box scores and highlights, but try to catch as many NOP, DAL, GSW games as possible.

For baseball I mainly look at stats and read articles. For basketball I watch as much as I can.

I was thinking along the lines of watching games vs. only looking at stats/highlights.

It's some of each for me as well depending on lineups, game times etc.

Bump it. The poll here is already ruined because nobody wants to out themselves.

who are you calling out?

~65% of the people who post player analyses.

There's clearly people on here that don't know basketball. Nobody comes to mind, but a lot of comments are from people that have never been a part of a sporting program in any way.

I'd say most true "fans" of a player or a team, are just that, fans.

In saying that. I love the NBA and invest so much time in to it. Could say I'm a basketball nerd.

Watching it, betting on it, fantasy basketball, former player and coach.

So glad a big American came to my school and handed out flyers to his coaching camps. I made a lot of great friends from this game..

Sorry, I'm rambling.

Religiously.

Should add a disclaimer to the poll: do you watch if you don't own any Prizm bass of players on the floor?

I try to take in at least one game every night.

Trying to flip a few Wendall Carter bass dimes into a Bron Topshots Chrome RC in 8.4 before I tune into the Lakers.

Most of the hypebeasts and the younger followers of the game watch zero actual games; they only read box scores and watcg twitter/IG highlights. There is a reason why the NBA's TV ratings for the regular season are so bad. TBH I don't blame them. Today's games are so boring compared to the games just from 5-6 years ago with how much the sport has changed.

Why isn’t “Return raw cards as not as described” one of the choices?

I am always checking stats and box scores for all games, as well as watching most Jazz games.

I try to watch games of teams I like (such as Atlanta, Brooklyn, New Orleans) whenever I can. Working from home helps, will usually have a couple of games playing each day. How much I watch them is the question - I'm usually working or on my phone so not paying much attention. Previously I only watched on weekends and relied on box scores.
Because I play fantasy I check most box scores anyway.

When I was more collecting baseball I would just follow highlights and box scores. Since I have switched to mainly collecting basketball I watch a lot more games and it has made collecting and the sport itself way more fun. I no longer buy into a guy because his cards are hot and everyone else says he’s good, I will buy a guy because I like what I see on the court.

I watch NBA games every single night. Usually multiple if my wife will allow it.

Follow up question: would you watch if you didn’t have money into it? Take cards, betting, fantasy, etc out of it. I bet this number goes way down.

I've thought about this. At this point, yes, I would. I do particularly enjoy watching Zion and Steph.

It's possible that people watch the games and are also unintelligent and/or don't understand the game. :)

Same. To an extent. If time permits, I’ll put on Zion/Luka/Trae/Ja. The must-watch players (Steph is on way too late for me). Crucify me but you couldnt pay me to sit through a Bulls/Pistons game.

Yes. Cards are fun, but they just add a little spice. The actual game is the core of everything to me, I wouldn't care about cards if I didn't love the game.

I watch at minimum a game every night, if the Cavs are on I watch it straight through but if I’m watching anything else I’m constantly pausing and rewinding to watch specific things that happened during a specific play or sequence.

I also wake up around 5am everyday so I usually have time to watch a game or 2 in the morning.

The last full game I watched was the Raptors winning their championship. Did not see very many minutes in 2020, none actually this past week. :( Maybe the interest will return soon.

Im hating the nba this year.... No fans and players luck lazy on a daily basis.... Little to no momentum shifts and game is often over by the 1st quarter. Dont know why but there has also been way to many blowouts this year....

I watch as many as my wife/toddlers allow. Not nearly as much as I would like. I often find myself batting away toys while tracking a game cast on ESPN, or watching games on DVR after everyone is asleep.

I used to watch more college than pro before I got back in the hobby, now it’s probably the other way around. Better believe when March Madness finally comes around this year I’m going to have some protest in the house! Haha.
