Is this really sold out everywhere already or will there be more released once it goes live in April? Based on the love some people have for the Precious Metal Gems inserts this is likely to be a hot product. Wish I could get some.

I just think that most places aren't selling hockey products that far out yet. DA only has Artifacts, Trilogy, and Series 2 listed of sets that aren't out yet, and it's not because everyone bought up Black Diamond and OPC Plat. There will be more wax.

Doesn’t change the number of PMGs or numbered inserts that are the chase for this product. Just changes where you can get them from. In person or on e-pack.

They print x amount of product just like all releases with e-pack. A certain percentage of the printed product is set aside for e-pack. I’m assuming they have no idea what cases have what hits and its just luck of the draw on what is where.

Last I saw, June 15th - June 30th, one distributor (GTS) has it for Quarter 3 2021, so that pushes it past the 30th. Only current one I see live for preorders is through Miraj Trading in Ottawa (never heard of them) for 130 USD... 7 cards per pack/15 packs per hobby with a June 15th release, but not seeing an active preorder via any major card retailers.

They (or we) really made this a huge build up, but looking at the price and number of cards, doesn't look like it will be tough to get ahold of... barring they release it lol. UD probably wants to milk as much out of Series 1, 2, and Extended as possible before releasing Skybox.

I thought this would be similar to SPA as far as pricing (assumed it was fewer cards per hobby box). Hell, Synergy is priced higher.

I don’t know where you’re looking but Fleer Showcase boxes aren’t cheap. PMGs are still valuable in hockey, flipping doesn’t matter. It’s about the PMGs rookies of Laf, Stu and Kap. Plus PMGs of Ovie, Matthews, McDavid, etc which will carry value.

Timing. NFL just started, the offseason of NHL and just not paying attention. Add to the fact that some of the cards that are listed will be available on UD epack later on. Skybox Metal Universe was not a high-end item except that the Rubies and PMGs made it elevate.

Wax price in all sports is out of control and not in line with single sales these days. Its been like this for a while. In football a box of Donruss football is $500 and in basketball it was $600. Just like both products, the hardest cards to hit are the drivers of wax prices as they sell for good money.

Skybox Metal is a good product. Expensive at its price point, but so is every box of cards these days. PMGs are still the main attraction and Jambalayas / Platinum portraits. In my opinion, the biggest downside is the checklist missing vets. A better Vet list would have driven this product to be even hotter..

As for PMGs?? They are rare. Thankfully they are serial numbered. Sales of PMGs confirm their in demand popularity. Also the purples are not PMG, they are spectrum. Much different than PMGs

I saw a Crosby red PMG end at $488. Honestly unless you hit a 1/1 of a top player it seems like you’re better off with singles… which is just about always the case.

The pmg's you're referring to were from the late 90's. Hockey didn't have pmgs then, so you're comparing significantly older cards to fairly new cards.

Wow you where not kidding. First time I have seen cards in Walmart and wow have the prices ever went up! $50 plus tax so $57cad for a blaster of Metal. Crazy.

Everything was priced high...WNBA and Prizm Baseball are now $50 a blaster. Mega Topps Chrome was $100. Factory sets $100.

I figured they had to either raise prices or raise production run. Looks like they did both.

Its different in certain years. So in 2012 the PMG were red /100, blues /50 and the greens were /10. Technically 160 total PMGs

YGs always start off hot and cool down significantly over the past few months, it's the same as prizm rookies in basketball. I'd love to see a chart of some kind where all major young guns are tracked from release to current day in terms of selling price. I recently entered the world of hockey cards - it's more affordable, many collectors prefer the true base rookies, just like baseball USED to be, and it's fun to learn what's hot and what is not.

YG - come out hot, the GEM MINT versions even hotter. With PSA/BGS grading times and cost, rarely do we see these until well into the season. So, left with only ungraded copies, which seem to lose value within a month and then crash when the online packs are released. Then, within 6 months-6 years, the big boys shoot up in price and continue to do so, while the lower end guys just keep crashing.

Made the mistake of sending an entire case worth of YG's to COMC, the fees outweighed the sales prices, doh!

Yeah. PMG numbering is weird. This paragraph from this guide explains it.

"The parallel that started it all, 1997-98 Metal Universe Basketball brought collectors the colorful PMGs that still remain popular in the collecting world. The set features 123 cards, as checklists were not included. Each card is numbered to 100. Although not separately numbered, the first ten cards of each print run are green and the remaining 90 are red."

Seems like a good deal if he comes back and does well with Vegas.

Not trying to be negative but you are seeing prices dropping on most of the stuff because the market is becoming more saturated due to collectors breaking on epack. With so much being listed on comc, each owner is competing with each other for sales forcing prices down.

Yeah. I’m hoping this product will be a one and done. Although UD likes money. If they just keep releasing this product over and over like it’s a movie studio capitalizing on rehashing an 80’s kid fad, that will be extremely disappointing.

The Gold Retro 1/1s look really nice.

The Draisaitl "sold" as a PSA 8 for $7600. It was Probstein so it was pumped to the gills, so who knows what the real world value is for MacKinnon, Kane, Ovechkin, Crosby and McDavid...etc.

It was/is an asinine numbering system.

I got my first shipment of metal from COMC. My thoughts are as such:

They all look great in person. The photos of Net Defenders cards do not do them justice. Simply must see them in person. COMC photos make the modern PMGs look flat green and red.. They’re anything but that. Incredibly shiny and iridescent. Even the spectrum base cards look great. Purple retros and net defenders so far are the sleepers of this set.

Also some cards are cut terribly. Not just jagged edges but very diagonal cuts as well.
