Walk me through online NHL viewing options

I want to consider either.

The local team would be on FS Go I expect.

The NHL probably offers a big season package of access to everything for a big price.

I like the NBCSN coverage but am only rarely around a cable package that includes it.

I will be traveling a fair amount for work during the season and sometimes that will be in remote areas where my mobile data cap becomes important.

So just looking for short takes on watching Hockey via Internet, not cable TV.

I have NHL.tv. I live in the Capitals market, but I am a Penguins fan.

If you are in the market of your team, you cannot go the NHL.tv route, as the games will be blacked out (so if I wanted to watch the Caps, I couldn't). You can get around this by getting a VPN so your IP address doesn't show the location you're in (or something like that), but it sounds like a headache to me. If I want to get the package with access to just Penguin games, it's $85. If I want all games (except Caps), it's $100.

ESPN+ also has a hockey game on almost every night I think.

Ahh, the big NHL package uses the blackout restrictions like MLB does. Thanks. I would have remembered that eventually, maybe.

I got YouTube TV to watch the Bruins out of market while I was in PA last year (since it was the best all around option for me), but with their dispute and subsequent dropping of NESN I'll go back to utilizing less-legal streaming options for all my B's games and I don't feel the slightest bit bad about it.

For me, I pressed the re-set button till next year probably. As the season opened I had to go on the road for a job. The AirBnB my crew stayed in had 570 channels with nothing on, and zero Hockey. We sat around and laughed at Mountain Men reruns if we turned the TV on at all. Then my landlord died while I was gone and everything is in flux. Plus the Dead Wings will still be boring again anyway.

I am starting to wonder if Saturday Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts are somehow available online for a good Game-of-Week type deal?

I use NHL.Tv and ontop of that I paid 10 dollars for a yonder.tv subscription... Yonder is amazing and super easy to setup. Change a few settings on your device and it allows you to get around blackouts

I do the single team option (Rangers) through NHL.com and its worth the $85 to me. Getting the MSG pre- and post-game shows makes me feel like I'm back in NY.

If you don't want to pay for hockey you can always watch games on pirate streams.

I rarely do this as my regular season viewing is minimal at best, but occasionally in the playoffs my limited television package doesn't have a non Canadian top team match and I will tune in. I saw a few Islander games when they had their conference final run.

I did figure out how NBC Sports works w/PC online or mobile app - if you have that channel in a cable TV package, you can easily get a free code from the cable provider and then online/mobile NBCSn is free.

I also updated my mobile service with AT&T and noticed a key detail there. Their menu of plans (basically all data pkgs now; voice service even to Canada & Mexico is unlimited & free now), well were essentially identical on the business or personal/consumer side, at least when looking at just one line. Except the highest personal plan included an HBO subscription now.

Maybe by next season Xfinity mobile & NBCSn will be a happy combo as an ala carte option like that.

Still haven’t remembered to surf over to CBC and check out any online they might offer. The building I have been living in will be sold soon; it had great wireless signal strength. Dunno if I will have that next winter.

Or you can go to yoursports.stream and watch for free.

Once you choose your event, just click on the tiny roundish square X in the middle of the screen and then that will disappear and then click on the big triangle play button.

The stream could be delayed from 5 seconds to almost 2 minutes.

How are you doing the VPN on the PS4? Is your VPN software directly on the router?

I use Yonder.TV not sure if it’s exactly a true VPN but when you sign up for it it tells you what to change your DNS to on the ps4 and it works perfect. I can watch all the blacked out games here and have yet to have a problem
