Anyone submit any topps chrome with heavy greening to psa lately? Will it kill the surface grade? So many of the high grade kobes have green but I wonder if you submit it now if they will dock you for it.

Yes surface grade will be affected. Still worth sending in it’s an iconic card.

I'm about to send in a 2nd year Kobe, so we'll see how that goes. Fingers crossed.

This was a couple years ago but I sent a Nash 96 TC rc to PSA with some greening and they gave it a 10

Since when has hulking ever affected grades?

I’ve never seen evidence that greening effects the grade. The green comes from the red eyes in the card deteriorating. Leaving more blue and green to show through. That has an impact on the eye appeal but it’s not actually an issue with the surface of the card.
Is anyone aware of PSA or BGS explicitly addressing their take on the greening?

You know this is what I thought too, but I'm kind of thinking the olders ones didn't have green when they graded them and turned green in the slabs.

They most definitely will hit you for it. I sent a 1995 finest refractor that was mildly green but otherwise pristine condition, and it came back a psa 7.

Had to have been something else wrong with it

Really depends on the grader, there are lots of new label hulk PSA 10's available.

Thought this would be a good thread to bump, as this topic was referenced in some of PSA's legal filings related to a Kobe Bryant Chrome Refractor.
While the focus of the case is damage, there are several fun notes in the filings.
Relating to greening/hulking, PSA alleges the main reason the card wasn't a 10 is the greening, which places the card at the PSA 8 level.

The PSA images are currently down, but here's an old screenshot I have of the card (ignore the arrow), to show the level of greening that psa is discussing.

That’s crazy, there seem to be no reliable answers when it comes to PSA and “greening”, PSA MAKE UP YOUR MIND
It should be clearly addressed in the grading standards, people should not be seeking information on this topic in forums lol

I am gonna start an "anyone submit to Greening Graded" thread once I finally get that LLC off the ground. Motto: "We find the nuance in your hulk."
Can't believe we are still having this discussion or caring. PSA has brainwashed a generation.

I sent in this 93 Finest MJ recently. I have to assume this is why it's an 8?? Card looked flawless and centered well enough.

hard to see with the lighting, but could be patina. I'm a buyer at a 9 price.

Im not completely sure either. I think it's turning? but it's def not as green as some 96 Kobes I've seen.

Ah so could be years away from a nice patina. And to be honest I haven't seen Topps Finest round that corner, unlike Apprentices.
