Put this in the baseball forum too, but posting here since I'm also a basketball guy: Relatively inexperienced in cards (have a lot more experience with comics), and I'm trying to figure out if there are any "market inefficiencies", especially among vintage cards. I'm primarily thinking undervalued players or types of cards. I'm not the kind of collector to chase the 1 of 1 auto/patch cards, for example. I typically only buy the players I like anyway, so if I can save money by buying a less-valued version of one of my guy's RC, for example, the knowledge would be good to have. Appreciate any feedback y'all can provide!

There are far too many correct answers to your question to do them all justice with a few items. You should note the players you collect in order to get thorough responses I believe.

So, I suppose part of the problem is that I'm not terribly "focused", in that I haven't decided to limit myself to a few players. I'm a fan of many of the great players from, say, before 2005--Iverson, Shaq, Kareem, Russell, Wilt, Maravich, Erving (his Squires rookie is one I know I will spend the money for eventually), etc.; along with UVA alums (Sampson, Hunter, etc.), and great Washington Wizards players (Arenas, Wall, Beal, Unseld). That's partly why I'm looking for ways to get the players I like at a discount--I'm not narrow in my interests.

Your list of vintage players is a good list

1961 Fleer centered HOFers in PSA 6/7/8...
Iconic set full of all-time greats, and very hard to find well-centered cards.
