I'm looking to buy one or more as a long-term hold.
I assume Topps Chrome is the most popular, but my budget would limit me to 1 PSA 9. Are there any other popular releases to consider?
Thanks.

are you looking for base RC only? if so, bowman chrome, its numbered
a lot of other KD rookie on-card autos are underrated..

Underrated any of the glossy versions of Fleer. Only available in blasters and only one pack of glossy cards in each.

Bowman chrome if you can afford one, probably 10s out of your range already. Got the logoman, eye appeal, and low pop.

As a Nets fan I went with the Topps black border.
I also like the Topps Finest green refractor to match the Sonics colors.
But were talking about KD, so you really can't go wrong.

Bowman Sterling is a low cost alternative and is a chrome like card

Base Topps RC, any color. Those will blow up quicker than the other brands.

I still think his Finest XRC is one of his best values remaining. Very limited and a better looking card than the 07/08 set.

Too late, sadly.
Agree that the Finest XRC is very undervalued. The golds were going for under $5k until recently.
Sterling nobody cares about. Sure, you get the shiny but it will always be 4th place after Chrome, BC, Finest. But yeah, you're getting it cheaper.

As long term investment? Exquisite, ultimate,SPA, or any rookie on card auto.

a favorite Durant rookie of mine is the Bowman Sterling Refractor /399
Unfortunately they have gone up in price recently but are still a nice looking card, and nearly 4x rarer than the Topps Chrome Ref

Bowman chrome refractor best looking non-auto rc,all numbered, and 10x rarer than topps chrome

Ultimate /150. Has arguably the best photo of any rookie card of his.

Agree.
Those ultimate /150 were about 1.5:1 ratio against his TC refractor psa 10 for ten years until 2020, which makes it one of the most underrated card of Durant.

Had never seen this one before, but absolutely love it. Its a stunner, thanks for the recommendation, would have never even know that card existed without your help. The echelon is super nice and really cheap for a numbered one.

Yeah it has an Exquisite type look to it.
Also very tough to grade.

That ratio is not true. In spring-summer 2012, BGS 9.5 Ultimates were going for $1150 vs the TC Refractor of $202-236 in same grade.
Raw refractors were ~$100 vs raw Ultimate autos at $350.
A raw orange refractor went for under $100 even.
BGS 9 Whites for $400.
So 3.5-5.5x was the range for 2012-13.

Sooo, the ultimate should be $175K - $275K :D
Would like to see what an Ultimate Foil /10 would fetch for 👀

I've got a copy of that card. Would like to see it also. :coffee:
Con - had a 2nd copy, traded it.
Pro - got a UD Black dual auto patch Bulls MJ for it.

You are not wrong, I was comparing his ultimate /150 raw to his TC refractor psa 10.

Yep, said that two years ago. That and BC probably still top two picks for not breaking the bank.
