Do you guys think Jesse has any hobby potential going forward? I don’t want a lot of Edmonton games but the fan base seems to be happy with his return so far, even if he isn’t getting a lot of points.
Do you think Puljujarvi stays in Edmonton long term? Will be be anything more than a depth player?

If the Oilers go on a Cup run and he scores some big/clutch goals, anything is possible.
If/when the Oilers figure it out, there's a lot of hobby potential for any of those guys depending on what they do. The fans will be going crazy!

No hobby value, he’s a bust considering his draft position.
Also look what Rantanen cards are going for and he’s actually kinda good.

Same with Laine. No love for Finnish players maybe? lol

Laine kind of makes sense, the kid has been on the outs for two seasons in Winnipeg. Hard for a fan base to worm up to a player like that. Doesn’t help that he’s gone from arguably the smallest Canadian market to one of the smallest in the US.

Yeah lot of folks seem to think poorly of him. I'm from Winterpeg and watched him play a lot...no issues with his effort at all. He is very tall, 6'5" and it can look like he is lumbering but he isn't. He will never be a Selke candidate but doesn't need to be.
Great playmaker as well, but they usually don't show that on the highlights.
He was an exciting player with an unreal shot. Going to miss him.

I was rooting hard for winnipeg. seems like a good organization. Laine Matthews McDavids stuff flooded the market the last 5 years. No one's down on finnish guys, there just isn't the american appetite.

How are you defining "smallest in the US"
Since Columbus is bigger than your town...
Just want to make sure we're talking apples to apples.

Bump, two months later. How is everyone feeling about Jesse?
My opinion of him hasn't changed since two months ago. He is on a nice stretch right now with 5 points in his last 6 games.
Before this season, I was kind of iffy on whether he would stick in the NHL or continue his career in Europe for the foreseeable future. But I am pleasantly surprised that he is able to make the lineup and contribute with 15 minutes a game.
He is turning 23 next month and will probably never live up to his 4th overall draft pick hype. However, I do think he can carve out a decent NHL career as a third liner with the potential to improve to a second liner.
I don't watch Oilers games, so I have no idea what line he plays on. If he is on the second line, then it might be because Edmonton is thin on quality forwards.
I don't see his cards making a big jump in price in the future, but if he continues his current trajectory, his value should increase a little.
The current sample size is small, so his success is not much to go on. I would probably choose another young player to invest in because I don't see too much potential for growth.

Any player who is on a team with McDavid can have potential for hobby growth right now. Just imagine if they go on a Cup run, he scores a big goal, etc.
Maybe not long-term, but I could see upward movement for sure and potential there.

This remains true as well. Rantanen is playing fantastic hockey all season on a hyped team, but still gets no hobby love like many others in this tier.
It’s not worth to put any money in Puljujarvi from an investment perspective.

I probably catch every Oiler game. I love Jesse but wouldn't invest in him. He's not a scoring winger, right now he's playing alongside McDavid but that's partially because they have depth problems. He's used more for puck retrieval.
Long term I think he settles in as a checking forward that puts up 30-40 points a year and is interchangeable between lines.
I actually want to buy more JP for my PC, but I wouldn't buy right now, I think he's still overvalued.
If you are looking for a couple Oilers to invest in:
Dylan Holloway, could be a good snag when his cards come out. 14th overall in 2020, a lot of potential, killed it in the AJHL and had good success this year with Wisconsin. I'm not sure what happens with Nuge next year but Holloway could slot in nicely in the Oilers lineup.
I also like how Raphael Lavoie has been progressing. He's a goal scorer who I think could play top 6 on the Oilers.
both these guys weren't drafted really high so I'm hoping when their cards come out they don't start incredibly high

0. Value right now is guys who might up as studs on kraken. $1 young guns who could become next tuch, reilly smith, marchessaults, etc.
