Agreed. I would only add make sure you buy permanent. Lumocolor also comes in non-permanent.

Depends on how you want them to look. A lot of guys take a weird angle and Staedtlers Fines look streaky. Sharpies don't have that issue, but the auto comes out looking "fatter". I can post examples of both, if that would be helpful

I'm pretty certain this is the pen Topps gives out to players when they sign

I think it also depends on if the signer is known for taking their time or not. Nice clean signatures are great with Staedtler (or Jetpen) but the ones that rush it (or if it is at something like spring training) sharpie might be best-and also easier to replace if its lost.

For far more info then you are asking, check out this review of markers (mostly for photos) https://swau.com/blog/2020/3/10/the-epic-marker-review?fbclid=IwAR3kl1W8vdUSpDNPkKo_jJH3V_OcsoLs4eUoZYWMhZmzIAP_b1tNfgG5VKM

I believe he's using a Staedtler Lumocolor perm pen in the photo.

Patino...one of the best to do it too lol

Its much easier to tell in Phil Hughes' video where he signs for 2020 Archives Fan Favorites. That's where I saw it

If you check out this thread there are a couple of pics on page 2 of the pen that Topps sends out to the players along with the cards for them to sign. I think it says Stabilo but I could be wrong.

That's absolutely is a Stabilo. However the pen being used by Patino is a Staedtler Lumocolor.

I'm guessing either are suitable. I use the Staedtler on all my custom send ins.

Sit-down signing: whatever your heart desires

Non-controlled setting: don't deviate from a blue Sharpie

If it’s an older player with a nice signature I’d go steadler fine tip

If you are getting newer cards signed make sure you prep them so the signature doesn’t bubble

I got these to have around. my buddy always goes to spring training and gets autos for me and him on card from the players. pretty sure I've seen Topps hand these out also to sign autos on their certified pack issued stuff in the past. stay away from sharpies as they are usually too thick and streak.
