I agree, the quality and price look fantastic.
I am not into Ultraman, but if they do other shows that I watched, I would certainly be down for a case.

Although not interested in this set as I have never seen ultraman, the DIY sketch cards are super interesting idea, could be reused for APs and get some custom sketches on official card stock

Like many of the RRParks releases...love the licensing franchises...don't like the designs and therefore sit on the sidelines.

I'm debating taking the plunge at the $1200 level. I really want the autograph cards and a master set so I'm trying to gauge if selling off the other two master sets and any sketches/printing plates that I don't want for my collection would lower the cost enough to make it worth it for me. Trouble is I have no idea what the sketches/printing plates would sell for and I have no idea what the autographs are going to be worth. I'm guessing the sketches are going to be around $10-$50 each depending on artist and character, and the printing plates around $5 each. As far as the autographs go I'm thinking they're going to hold a good price because of the cost involved to get one. But I have no idea how often they're even going to come up for sale. If I was convinced I would be able to find the autographs for a reasonable price without too much hassle I would pass on the kickstarter and wait. But I just don't know. What if they all take off in price? I guess that's one of the benefits of getting in on the ground level with the kickstarter campaign.

I was thinking of the autograph cards too, especially the actor portraying the main protagonist/the human host of the Ultraman....
Contemplating if I should try to acquire them second-handed or aim for one at the asked kickstarter level (but no guarantee that I will get the one that I want)...

I'm doing the $1200 tier. Yes it's a bit pricey but you are guaranteed all 3 autographs (including Susumu Kurobe), 27 sketches and plates, and 3 full master sets. That's way more value than you'd get out of almost any $1200 case from one of the bigger companies. So I'm sold. Very excited for this release. :)

This was my mindset as well. Yes, it's a lot of money, but the value at the $1,200 tier is insane. I've dropped more on a star wars case that had three sketches and autos of assistant puppeteers. Here you get 27 sketches and all three autos, including Ultraman himself.

The only thing that bugs me is that you are getting just one of the 2 variant autos of each signer. I kind of wish you could get a set of one of the variations, instead of a possible mix.

"The autograph cards ... PHOTO style and the super rare RETRO JAPANESE 'Macarie' style cards."

So even though I myself would prefer a set of the Photo style autographs, I'm not going to be broken up if one or two is in the Macarie design that is supposedly "super rare". There's only 120 of each signer in total. So if both designs weren't made in equal numbers, what could "super rare" mean? 10 made of the Macaries? 20? maybe 40? Maybe you're lucky enough to get a full set of the Macarie design. So I can live with the mix (if they even are mixed).

If I go for the $1200 one, I likely will have to do the PayPal Credit, which Kickstarter doesn't seem to accept at this time.
I am pretty much only interested in the autograph cards, but $1200 is quite steep for my budget (even though I agree that the price is worthy).
Let me think hard about it.

I've pledged on Kickstarters and I've used my Paypal debit card as a credit card number and it has worked. However, if someone does NOT have a Paypal debit card VISA number and Kickstarter does NOT accept Paypal (and you're right... I don't think they do) then you can probably message the Kickstarter creator, RRParksCARDS and ask if he'll work with you via paypal credit. Or perhaps he can set up a special reserved listing on ebay so you can make your pledge through ebay.

I might just get one tuck-box case for one of the autograph cards (hopefully will get Susumu Kurobe of either variation) and try to acquire the other two of the same variation second-handed. The price of one tuck-box case is more bearable to me.

The era covered in this set is only "Ultraman" programming I've ever seen, and I was very young when I saw it, but those Hayata autographs are choice (the whole trio is solid, the actual stars of the series, not bit players), and this could be an iconic set, certainly where TV sci-fi autographed trading cards are concerned.

When I found out the "Man Who Fell To Earth" movie set had a David Bowie autograph, I was totally unconcerned with what else was in the case. That it turned out to be a nice set otherwise was a bonus.

I'll definitely be backing this at some level, although I haven't decided how much yet. It helps to know that at least one artist went to town on the sketches (thanks for the gallery, comicsinc, nice work!).

The Sketch cards alone at $25 each will return more than half of your investment. If you could push that to $30 and you just recovered $800. Some of the MST3K series 3 autographs show up on Ebay but not all of them. Those were also between 100 and 200 in production but obviously there were more signers. If the majority of the Ultraman autos hit hard core collectors you probably won't see them until they become super valuable.

The downside of this is that because it is such a small operation it could take awhile for the demand to absorb through the Ultraman fan base. It could be a few years before you see the real value of these. RRParks creations are typically not designed for the fast flip community but even at a fair price it would be tough for the $1200 pledge not to be worth it.

I've gotten to the point now in my thinking where I just might keep it all. I definitely want to keep at least one complete master set and the sketches that I've seen so far all look so great that I don't see how I could say "well I'll keep this one and sell that one". They all look similarly good. Who knows, maybe I'll even try to collect one sketch from every artist and have a true master set. But I agree the $1200 pledge is totally worth it.

They all are (except one photo featuring only a monster). There are different Ultraman series since the inaugural one in 1966.

With a quick glance, I could recognize the inaugural Ultraman, Ultraseven, Ultraman Jack, Ultraman Ace, Ultraman Taro (along with his dad and mom), Ultraman Leo.

The Macarie set (shown below, not mine) is limited to 24 (just 23 for Sakurai).

https://i.imgur.com/GiSkNkQ.jpg?1

The variations use a different photo of the actors signing the cards, which is some nice attention to detail.

The card reverse lists a third version of them, something called "Silver Halo", and the Sakurai auto, at least, is limited to 24.
One sold on eBay. Those use the same design/photo as the White Metal, but with some kind of shimmery surface, I'd guess.
I couldn't really tell from the auction photo.

The full tuck case I opened was missing one base card to finish a master set, but everything else was there, and this was a great value. I hadn't purchased RRParks cards before, but could tell the previous sets were true labors of love. Glad to have that confirmed with these cards featuring a subject I really enjoy now in hand. They are beautifully realized.

I'm not sure when it first aired in America, but I first saw it as a very young kid in 1976 or 77 on a UHF channel, That was the second dial on the television, the one that made the neat sound if you turned it really fast. The show was already 10 years old by the time I saw it.

The card set covers the first two seasons of the long running "Ultra" series, which began with "UltraQ" in 1966, a X-Files type series featuring paranormal investigators, with 28 black and white episodes. It was closely followed by "Ultraman" which introduced a Shazam-like switcheroo character, here the alter ego being a skyscraper-tall alien who would fight giant monsters. This was 39 episodes and had an actual ending. While made in color, I saw it in black & white, thanks to our lousy TV.

The "Ultra" series has been produced basically continuously ever since, with dozens of sequels, but I'm not familiar with any of them. Future card sets are planned, so those who followed more of the series are in for a treat.

Hey everyone - I was fortunate enough to contribute a small number of sketch cards to this awesome set (see attachment). Richard puts SO much work into creating these projects!

Yeah, I panicked a little when I didn't see them out with the box topper.

A question for those who opened retail boxes, what hits are in those besides the sketch? I assume you get one metal box topper but how about printing plates? roughly how many lenticulars? any of those rarer variants/parallels that were added after the kickstarter ended? Thanks in advance.

I got the Hoarder's Tier which came with 3 cases of 8 tuck boxes and 3 retail boxes. Along with that was a pile of loose cards which included the freebees like 8 different three-card proof sets and some error cards. Additionally included in that were 3 copies each of the same 15 "Monster" series base cards which I didn't understand the significance of until I opened a retail box. Those 15 cards turned out to be the ones needed to finish the base set when added to the cards from the packs. I also got 3 loose sets of the 10 sticker cards since the retail boxes I got didn't have any stickers in the packs either. I'm guessing this configuration will be for Kickstarter backers only and "regular" retail boxes will have those 15 monster cards and a sticker set actually in the packs.

There are definitely exclusives to the retail boxes and to the tuck boxes.
I'll try to post breakdown of what I've observed in that regard and some scans after work today.

Well, I went full on crazy with this set....the most I ever spent on cards by a mile. Originally I was intending to go for a sketch master set, but as the artist roster got bigger and bigger I found my desire to do it grow less and less. So I sold most of the 150+ sketches I pulled (although I still have the best ones) to recoup some of the money spent and chose to mainly focus on the autographs. So here is my RRParks Ultraman autograph collection...

Those are awesome! I purchased a handful of AP’s and pack inserted sketches. I am hoping to buy some boxes when the next set comes out.

Thanks! And you recently bought two sketches from me - Gubila and Fuji. ;)
