I do not understand this

My friend asked me to show him how to check completed listings to see what his cam newton exquisite base card would go for, I told him $25-$30 because its base but it is Cam newton. WOW was I wrong

I hate complaining about how people spend their own money, but come on you can get some nice cards for this amount of money.

I just do not get it, its a base card of a guy who has not played a down in the nfl. I do understand an auto going for that much for fans of Newton but a base card someone please help me understand this

Considering its probably not going to be a RC card, that does seem pretty high.
