Ebay's new standard envelope shipping question

Hi.

Hoping someone who uses the new Ebay standard envelope shipping deal can answer a question for me.

I had a few Ebay Bucks left in my account, so I purchased a cheap card to try and get rid of them. It was the first time I bought something where the seller used the new Ebay program to ship.

I still have a few Bucks left and Ebay keeps reminding me about it- like every time I search for anything a banner comes up saying I still have Ebay Bucks.

Anyway, it got me to thinking, I never got the other card I purchased with them- so I went to my purchase history to see what was up.

The tracking number is weird. Starts with ESUS and then some numbers. Not like a regular USPS tracking number. And I can see tracking info in Ebay, but the tracking number could not be found when I tried on the USPS website. I guess because it is an Ebay deal and not a post office deal.

My question is this- the tracking shows the package as out for delivery yesterday (4/24) but never shows as delivered- and I did not receive it. The issue I find disturbing is that it shows out for delivery in a different town than I am in. Right state, but a town about 100 miles away from me. Was supposed to be delivered to Taylorsville, NC 28681 (the address that is in the purchase details as the ship to address). Is this something I should be worried about or is this normal?

Any help is appreciated.

that is typical they are scanned by the processing machines not the carriers or clerks its not unheard of for it to show that or delivered a day or 2 before actual delievery.

iuts not an Ebay number its a USPS internal number that Pitney Bowes uses in their system. You can go to www.trackmyshipment.co and put in the number there and see it.

also do not worry - i had similar experience but i read several threads on here and it seems this is normal for a lot of people so you will probably get it in a few days. mine came 3 days later after it said delivered.

I never did get the card. I didn't file anything with ebay because it was a cheap card but has made me leery of buying from sellers that use this. I'd rather pay the $3-$4 and have USPS tracking.

I have had only 3 not be delivered. Pwe non deliries are very rare

I would have filed a claim even if it was a cheap card. The more claims like this that Ebay receives could force them to work with the post office to improve the standard envelope shipping method.

Question for others, can you ship 100pt cards with the ebay standard envelope or is it to thick? I’ve only shipped one item with the eBay standard envelope and I’m a bit uncomfortable with it still (worked ok). Do people put something rigid like cardboard in the envelope to protect the card? Any recommendations?

I would not send a thick card via PWE at all, and do not put cardboard in the envelope if the USPS deems it too rigid you r buyer can get hit with a huge upcharge to get the item. I have shipped thousands with card saver wrapped in a half sheet of paper and can count on one hand the number of damage complaints over the past 3 years or so.

There is zero flex in those cards most of the damaged card I have ever seen shipped via PWE were thick cards.

I have used 100 pt for like 4 thin base paper cards and max maybe tree chromes, no issue with almost 2000 of these now.

Thanks to be clear, I was talking about shipping a single 100pt card in pwe with a top loader vs using a 100pt top loader to ship smaller cards. Appreciate the insights though.

I have done both....the single 100pt relic card, and the 4 paper cards....in the thick top loader. No problems with either, except they don't always scan. That is to be expected since the $.91 thick/stiff envelopes are not supposed to go thru the sorting machines, which is where the scans take place. It actually worries me when they do get scanned because that means they did go thru the machines....but so far, so good.

Thanks - appreciate the insight. Selling a bunch of sub $20 cards that are no bigger than 100 pt, but nervous to send for the reasons others have said. Obviously it improves the economics considerably.
