View Full Version : 340 dollars for a 01 SPA box?

I went to my local shop and saw he had 5 boxes of 01 SPA for 340
bucks a piece. I have to laugh because these were the same boxes
that were once priced under 60. Are these selling for even 100 bucks
a box?

Not completely out of range actually. I've seen them go as high as $400 per at shows.

but why? The only card worth anything is the Woods which pulls like
1 in 5 cases if Im not mistaken. The downside is like 3 autos worth
6 bucks each. Why would anyone take this chance?

People love to gamble.

A more reasonable price is around $225. That's about what they go for online.

Yes it is an extreme price for a box where you are really looking for just 1 card (Woods Auto). A gamble.....sure it is, but what box of cards isn't? Any box you really purchase now is a gamble. You could purchase a box of UD Black for a few hundered and get nothing really valuable, and alot of the boxes that are out right now you will only get some random GU/Autos that are selling for a few bucks a piece. This box is really like 05-06 The Cup. Everyone wants that Sid-the-Kid RC Patch Auto, but you have to pay a pretty penny for those boxes. The positive is though, if you happen to pull what your looking for....your few hundered dollar box investment just turned into a few thousand dollar valued card. Box ripping is always a gamble, its just how much each person is willing to pay to try and get that one of a kind pull

I just think its funny that Tiger was winning everything a few years ago and these
boxes were going for 50 bucks per and the RC AU for 1200. Suddenly he gets hurt
and has to go under the knife and these boxes are going for 250+ and the card
is tripling in value. I don't get it.

These boxes and his RC auto have been going for up in value way before he got injured. But these will continue to go up in value the closer he gets to Jack's record. It really does make perfect sense for these to continue to go up. You are talking about a guy that will be the best golfer of all time soon and these boxes contain his true RC. And once his career is complete, the chances of ever seeing someone this dominant in golf again is very very slim.

Is it specifically 2001 SP Authentic that people want. Are there any other UD products that produced a Tiger Auto RC or RC?

Well UD 01 has gone up in price as well just not nearly as much as SP Authentic has. You can get Tiger's RC auto out of UD 01 but it is much harder than pulling it out of SP Authentic (not saying it is that easy to even get it out of SPA). With the guaranteed autos out of SPA it just makes your odds alittle better where as in UD 01 you aren't guaranteed anything out of a case (one jersey per case is the best odds, autos are way way worse odds).
