I am new to collecting, but purchased an exciting card in Roberto Clemente's 1955 Topps rookie card with a grade of 8 from PSA. Judging by the case, the grade was made after the half grades were introduced. Does PSA ever allow a regrade and has anyone had any success? I would never want to crack the case or anything like that, but are the odds quite low that PSA would ever increase its own grade? Just curious because it seems that even a half grade changes the value drastically. Thanks for the help!

Half grades are very rare, PSA hardly uses them. I wouldn't bother trying to change the grade unless the card is perfect, including surface which may be hard to see in the case. Some people argue that PSA graded easier on older cert numbers. If you post good pictures of front and back it would be nice asked to give you advice.

Becareful if you send into regrade have heard some horror stories of them changing the card grade to authentic or lowering the card grad. Saw a specific one on Cardporn on Instagram with a PSA 10 Tim Duncan that the man sent in to get the paper replaced since the original was wrinkling and they sent back he could change it to authentic or a PSA 5. Be careful and I’d just stick with the 8 with such an iconic player as Clemente.
