Not sure this is the right category but I’ll ask here. Yesterday I saw a tweet where a guy posted a screen shot of an offer he had on eBay. He asked if anyone on Twitter wanted it slightly cheaper than the best offer he received. I said I think it’s a bad look and he should accept, decline or counter that potential buyer than searching out new buyers. This guy makes it all about the fees and the buyer not paying taxes. I get all that but from an eBay buyer perspective I’d like to know if you’re going to accept the offer or not so I can pay or move on. Curious what everyone thinks, maybe I’m just an ass

As a seller I often sit on offers as long as I can. It is very common that while offers are open that other offers will be made or the item will sell out right. Open offers do something to the Ebay algorithm. As far as shopping it off Ebay like that. He is just begging for issues.

I’m the opposite. I try to give an answer as soon as I get the notification. As a buyer I like to know right away so as a seller I like to do that for someone else. I think using an offer as a negotiation tactic looks bad.

I don't answer right away , but 99% of my items I sell are on EBAY and I wouldn't try to cross sell on SM. Some groups I am in do not allow cross sale post.

Its called best offer not just take my offer or not. I will block buyers who demand I give them an immediate response or who cancel it after a very short time. Had one the other day send an offer at 230 in the morning canceled it around 3AM then sent a scathing message about how rude it was not to respond. Easy block. If it hurts his little feeling that much he is a buyer that likely needs his hand held through the entire transaction.

You obviously don’t have to accept the offer but don’t you already have a price in mind when you list a card? I’m trying to sell everything I put on eBay, not listing to linger. If someone makes me an offer I’ll respond ASAP. Dunno the point of waiting

Because i can tell you many times I have had offers pending and the item sell to a different buyer at full price while that offer is pending. As I mentioned it does something with the algorithm while the offer is pending, Ebay used to show that there were pending offers. Also I don't always have a set price in mind when I list many items.

The other day had an item at 49.99 had an offer of 35.00 come in, buyer was from California, I let it sit about 3 hours later another buyer from Oklahoma came in and offered 33.99. I sold it to the buyer from Oklahoma because of the shipping. Going to California it would have costs about 15.00 selling it to Oklahoma only costs about 8.00. Best offer is not always the highest offer.

I only send 12 hour offers. If I'm looking to buy something, I usually want to buy it today. If I have to wait 24 hours or more to find out if you'll sell to me, easy pass. I'll get it from someone else.

As a seller, I respond asap. Obviously, sometimes I'm sleeping or whatever, but you know what I mean. I don't jack around with my buyers' time.
