Hey guys,

I was kind of curious to find out what everyone is spending on cards on a monthly/yearly basis. I got back into cards about 2-3 years ago and feel like i spend a fair amount of my fun money on cards or autographs. But when i read some of these posts i dont understand how people are spending the kinds of money they post. I mean when i stopped collecting as a kid the most expensive pack of cars was like $1-2. Now people are rushing to spend $75 on a pack of 3-4 cards.

I mean my favorite cards are Triple Threads and National Treasures but i have no idea how people can spend for those boxes when you are almost guaranteed to lose money on it. and if you are a collector like me you might as well just buy the single so you get the card you want.

As for me I probably spend 50-100 a month which i think is a fair amount. I'm a public interest lawyer with a wife and kid on the way so i dont feel comfortable going crazy since my income isnt that high. i pretty much gave up on wax due to the prices althought i love bustin packs. mainly i am just picking up autos of PC guys and usually max them at $25.

so curious to hear what you guys are doing and those that are buying cases of exquisite, etc how are you affording that and is that just being done for ripping and flipping?

thanks guys, looking forward to the responses.

I don't really have a set total, I have spent 100 in a month and I have spent thousands in a month, just depends on what I like & want to buy at the time.....

I do graphic design full time which pays for the purchases.

I am a singles guy too. I spend between 50-100(Sometimes more) a month also mainly picking up PC guys.

Every once in a while I will pick up a few boxes from blowout. I have never opened a box like NT, Triple Threads or Exquisite and probably never will unless the price is way down.

I have a Phillies, Vikings, Riley Cooper and small Reggie Bush PC and they are who I mainly worry about. I can buy many singles of players/ Teams I collect rather than buying boxes and getting no one I collect.

I am a police officer so when I get my overtime check is when I am allowed to splurge.. :)!

I buy one box under $100 every 2 weeks (every paycheck). I keep the cards I need for sets and the ones I like, then sell the rest at work or on ebay to reduce the cost. I will occasionally buy a pack or two at Target or Wal-Mart when I'm there. I'm in the military, and the sole money maker in the family, so my card-buying money was about to go away last night when the government almost shut down. Can't buy cards when you've got to put food on the table.

I spend about $150 to $200 a week. I'll try one box and a couple of packs, and if I don't get anything I'll try another box. It sucks. I am lucky if I am able to make back even half of what I spend.

This hobby is addicting and draining at the same time.

I usually spend anywhere between $50-100 every two months. So pretty much most of my allowance and money I've saved up goes towards cards. The most I've ever spent at once was over $200 at a card show I really liked and saved up for for several months.

I am in college and run a small antique business on the side to have expendable money. I spend maybe 3-400 a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Sell everything I don't want and probably lose 200 a month or so, but I have fun doing it. I would rather open a box of cards than go to the movies and spend $25 each time I go.

Depends - I would say that I spend $500/month. I really only buy singles and do buy occasional boxes (BDPP for example). I am a corporate attorney, 33 yrs old, married with 3 kids.
