Went to the Ohio Sports Collector Convention in Strongsville, Ohio today (less than an hour away from me). Admission was $4. This is what I picked up:

No, your eyes are not deceiving you...I picked up exactly nothing. It was mostly all vintage, along with photos/jerseys and such. I am not the type to buy stuff just to buy it, and if you're looking for modern cards, I cannot recommend this show. There were maybe 70-80 tables set up, and I can count on one hand the number of dealers that had any modern cards at all. There was one wax dealer, but the prices were a little high and the selection was lukewarm at best.

Thanks for the look.

I live on the other side of Youngstown and theres not squat for shows out here. Everything is at least an hour away. Eastwood and Southern Park Malls used to have them but have been long gone.

Man I went to this too and you were right, all psa baseball stuff from the 60's. My buddy went to find a box of sp authentic and there was only one table that had it. Was very disappointed

There's a reason you didn't find modern cards there, and thats because its a vintage show. Although I can understand why people are disappointed if its their first time going, as the advertising done for it is kind of generic like any other show. The show is ALWAYS 95-100% vintage though. The small show they run at the same location periodically has more modern stuff than this show.

Its an amazing show if you're looking for vintage or memorabilia. Some of the top dealers from around the country are there. JSA authenticates on site and beckett does raw card review there. But if you're looking for modern stuff, you're better off skipping the show. And while I saw 2 wax dealers there, you're not going to find blowout prices when the dealers have to pay $300 per 6 foot table. The table cost is high on purpose, IMO to discourage modern dealers.

Just an FYI, there was a small show about 20 minutes away in Richfield on Saturday that was at least 75% modern. Probably 4 times as much modern that was at the Strongsville show and lots of good deals to be had there. Plus free admission.

Lol...thanks for the comments everyone. Nothing is for sale/trade at this time. :)!

Seriously, though...it reminded me of why I don't even bother going to shows anymore. I hadn't been to a show in a couple of years and was just looking for something to do yesterday. The lack of inventory, crowd, prices, and lack of interpersonal communication skills by the sellers turned me off big time. I was "walking the show" and I promise you, the vast majority of sellers didn't even ask or say anything when I was at their table (such as, "how may I help you", or "anything in particular you're looking for?", or simply, "Hi". This is all after I attempted to make eye contact with them as well.

Failure.:(

Looks like I'll be sticking to the internet as far as this hobby goes (with minimal stops to my LCS).
