A lot of these whipper snappers have no idea who The Rocket is other than his name is on a trophy.

Beliveau, Plante, Messier, Forsberg, Bure, Tretiak.... and the list goes on. There are a ton of greats that I would love to see more.

I wouldn't put Orr up there. Yes, he is THE GREATEST hockey player of all time, but few people outside of Toronto and Boston have heard of him. Really the only old-school player to make would be Gordie Howe. The rest have either retired in the past 10 years or are still playing.

You have got to be kidding me. Anyone who has heard the word hockey has heard the name Bobby Orr...

Rinkwraith - I have been thinking about your list for 10 minutes now and honestly, it is perfect. I would say the first guy I would take out and replace (with who I'm not sure) would be Bobby Hull (and his son would probably be in the top 20/25)

Wayne Gretzky
Sidney Crosby
Bobby Orr
Steve Yzerman
Gordie Howe
Patrick Roy
Mario Lemieux
Steve Yzerman
Martin Brodeur
Roberto Luongo
Brett Hull
Sorry but Bobby Hull and Alex Ovechkin don't make the cut for collectibility. In value and amount of collectors, Crosby is easily number 2 on that list.

Well, you are wrong. Ovechkin's stuff sells very high. His collectibility is in the top 10 without a doubt and easily top 3 for current players.

Mark Messier is low in these list as well, surprisingly.
Joe Sakic should also be somewhere in that, guy is = to Yzerman in my mind.

I agree, as a huge Avs fan who was around during the late 90's I loved both of these guys because they were literally the same player.

Some people would. I mean no disrespect to Bobby Orr, like I stated before, he is the best player to ever lace 'em up. But he's not at the level of popularity say, Wayne Gretzky, or Mario Lemiuex is at.
Bobby Orr is one of my favourite hockey players of all time, second to only the great Darryl Sittler. But I just don't think he's at the level of popularity that some other players are at. This is just one hockey fans opinion.

Bobby Orr single handedly changed the way the game was played. Anyone who plays hockey or collects hockey cards knows who Bobby Orr is. There is no doubt that he is in the Top 5.

I agree. Most, no, ALL hockey fans would know Bobby Orr. But not many non-hockey fans would know Bobby, like they would know Sid or Wayne Gretzky.

Which /99 Cup RC sells higher? Which /999 SPA RC sells higher? Crosby or Ovechkin?

Crosby, which is why I said top "3". Gretzky, Crosby, and Ovechkin are probably the top 3 in values right now.
And on Orr, I agree, but most people who collect hockey are hockey fans I would imagine, so they would know about Orr.
