Hello all,

Ive been trying to research this and am having a hard time trusting google because I assume people use google ads + Adwords and whatever else to stand out, I have a collection of (mostly NBA, that's why I put this question in this sub-forum) Low-mid level cards, about 20,000 Cards. Mostly modern, a lot of rookies and parallels and such but no High value stuff.

What, in your opinion would be my best bet in terms of consignment? I don't mind if it takes a while for them to move but I'd rather not be paying monthly fees while they wait to sell. Im fairly new to consignment so I apologize if I sound uninformed about the whole situation.

I appreciate all replys and help.

I would be shocked if someone was willing to consign 20k low end cards. Take your best cards, send those and just bulk sale the rest

I could break them up into several different lots and try a couple different consigners. Im not too worried on the time frame so that is beneficial to me, thanks for the input I will look into doing that but part of it is I don't want to sort through them all again, I just want to ship them off and get whatever Fair price they are worth - Fees. That would be awesome.

Yea I just don’t think consignors are going to want to take a bunch of $1-5 cards.

I guess it depends on your definition of mid to low end.

No consignment service will deal with low to mid-level raw cards right now. It is not worth their time. You could try to sell them to someone, but the prices people will give you will be insulting. To sell cards it is a difficult process and the fees that eBay/PayPal/etc... charge make it even more difficult. You only have two choice right now.

1. Sell in bulk for 25% of the cards value
2. Try to sell everything yourself on eBay. The $20 PWE service is great for lower level cards.

Hey thanks for the response. I think the average is about $15. I sell on eBay but am trying to outsource and just sell my higher dollar cards on my eBay store, I also don’t want to go back through my collection I don’t know why I just want to clear out and have a fresh start with a small amount of cards so I can focus on niches of the market more. I’m not sure if that makes sense but it’s just a goal of mine.

If that is your goal try to trade them for cards you are looking for

Yea man that’s a tough spot to be. You could always do player / team lots to move some of the stuff more quickly.

I have 3 big boxes full of inserts and similar stuff that I don’t have the time or patience to sort and list.

I’ll probably just end up giving it away

I agree. I don't know if COMC has changed but i had thousands of cards on there once upon a time. I have nothing there anymore, i cashed out. Takes a little while to put a price to everything but they do all of the scanning and upload the images for you. It's not that bad you can get in a groove and price a few hundred at a time then take a break and so some more.

Sell off all the decent ones then sell your entire port when you feel there's not much left of value.

unfortunately in todays card economy, the bigger auction houses are looking for those $10k and up cards. as someone else pointed out, comc may be your best option for them.

Hey everyone. Thank you for the replies, I just packaged up 800 cards to send off to COMC, I really like their system but having to wait 16 weeks for them to be ready to sell is going to be pretty brutal. Im going to start with this many and see how it goes.

may not be 16 weeks, they are getting caught up.

make sure to attach you comc id to your screen name here. there are many buyers here that will find you that way.

Can i ask you guys who had sent to comc, do you have to write down/type the name of each cards or will they do that for you?
I know they scan the cards for you, but do they put out the title for you as well so you can just put the price on each?

So you think people just randomly send a monster box of cards to COMC.com without knowing what's in them? I mean I suppose I can see a market for it but I would imagine COMC would charge $2 per card........

To the best of my knowledge this is actually what they do.. Ive spent the past 6 hours researching them and then going through and packaging up 2100 cards to send to them tomorrow. for 50 cents a piece they scan the front and back of your card, identify it, label it and you just go into the dashboard when they are loaded and set your price. Its a pretty amazing deal.

Yep- they will title cards and scan them. You have to price them and mark if any titles need correction. It used to be an insane deal when it was 10 to 15 cents a card and loading cards was a few weeks!

Hey Mjohn, I read your primer last night it was extremely detailed and informative, thank you very much for taking the time to write that up.

Man it WOULD be insane at 10 Cents. I understand why they raised the price, I would be shipping them boxes after boxes if it was that cheap still. its still an incredible deal, to get high res scans of front and back and label the card. well worth 50 cents in my opinion.

If you were transferring over from your Upper Deck epack account it was even better than that, they were free. You didn't pay a cent to have them moved over to your COMC account. I don't know if they still do that or not.

That's actually what I did. As a kid/college student I had about 20,000 cards and got back into collecting in early 2019.

This summer I gave all my junk wax to a neighbor kid including a bunch of cards that were probably worth up to $10. I kept about 100-200 of them to sell on ebay (some of them I'm still waiting for PSA to open up services to grade) and 90% of those are sold. I probably could've made a couple hundred on the cards I gave away but it definitely wouldn't have been worth the time and effort.

All I have left are a handful on ebay, the 50 or so to be graded, and the cards I bought since 2019.
