Unlikely to stay on the Cooperstown ballot for more than a year, but will probably join Brad Ausmus, Shawn Green, etc. in the Jewish Sports HoF.

I’m still amazed the Brewers kept him after what he did to that guy/informant .

More than happy to see him go.

I’m guessing he’ll want to help call games with Aroid and Ortiz.

When that happened, even the die hard Brewers fans were beyond disappointed and livid. It was next to impossible to cheer for him the following season, and the crowds were noticeably less supportive at home. To Braun's credit, for whatever its worth, he became a LOT more involved in community programs after this incident. He was clearly humbled and tried to make amends. Still not excusing the crap he pulled on the FedEx guy, but at least he tried.

Was it court ordered?

In his apology after getting caught he didn’t apologize to the sample collector whose life he deliberately tried to ruin and put through hell. And that will always be his legacy with me.

"I have weighed this decision for many months," Braun, 37, said in a video posted to social media by the Brewers. "While I still love this game very much, the time is right for me to retire from my playing days."

Ummm.... I think every team telling you they didn't want you was the decision. :)!:)!:)!

Guess you were beating them off with a stick....

Ryan Braun - No guys... I really think I should retire.

Literally no MLB team - Noooo Ryan.... Come play for us. We need you!!!

Ryan Braun - No, I'm sorry... I'm taking my talents to my couch.

The most unlikeable guy in MLB history.

That's debatable.

Barry Bonds, Albert Belle, dick Allen and John Rocker might have him beat.

Dick Allen is far from unlikable. Most of what I hear was he was a model Teammate and treated rookies in particular well. There’s a story of how he got into an argument with Ron santo (who played his final year with the Sox) because santo was harassing the younger players too hard.

He wasn’t as popular with sportswriters.

I can't find any stats on Ryan Brain, shame he was forced to retire before his career even began. Pretty sad.

I know you are just being sarcastic, but for anyone who doesn’t know: He said some nasty stuff (see attached image). Also, just to top it off, he’s an admitted steroid user.

it's unfortunate what happened to Cobb. Thankfully, history has had a chance to correct itself.

Like most I assume, I had no idea about the story behind Stump. Very interesting.

Bonds is absolutely at the top of the list, you can throw Canseco, Pierzynski, Kevin Mitchell right behind him.

Anyone that's not popular with sportswriters are good in my book. For the most part.

What did Barry Bonds do besides deny steroid allegations while clearly juicing? I genuinely don't recall anything other than disliking reporters and doing steroids.

Anthony john pierzynski’s one time manager oswaldo guillen said “you hate him if you’re on the other team but love him on yours”. People forget the only reason the twins dropped him was because joe Mauer became the catcher. You know, the number one draft pick that grew up in the twin cities?

There is also an OUTSTANDING video on YouTube of Jim Leyland absolutely undressing Bonds during spring training with the Pirates because Bonds thought he was too good to be participating.

Leyland is, perhaps, the best cusser I have ever heard speak. Just seamless profanity… magic

He doesn’t crack the top 10 of most unlikable players of all time, but he also wasn’t a likable player either.

Kittle recounts how he approached Bonds in 1993 about signing a baseball jersey to raise funds for children with cancer. Kittle had purchased a pair of jerseys to be auctioned off at a golf event.

"I walked up to Bonds at his locker . . . and said, 'Barry, if you sign these, they'll bring in a lot of money for kids who need help.'

"Bonds stood up, looked me in the eye and said, 'I don't sign for white people.' If lightning hits me today, I will swear those were his exact words. Matt Williams and other Giants were in the room, and they heard what Bonds said.
