I don’t understand the lighter areas on the top and bottom of the border. Just like the 2021 blacks from flagship, really unnecessary

Just a bump as this drops this week. My boxes should arrive Wednesday if tracking is to be believed. Odds on most anything are long considering they carry across all packaging types, but I still enjoy this product a lot with the different inserts and the low number of parallels attached to the base cards compared to flagship.

I bought a (very) overpriced box on a whim. It was a fun rip (I collect for fun, not profit). No great inserts, one blue foil (Freddie F.), but all the base cards -- Wander, all the guys I PC and/or are big in the hobby (e.g., Trout), Trout and Guerrero Jr. Bomb Squad cards, and a few triple-rip cards.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have 4 boxes on pre-order and Big League is my Son's favorite box to open. With the increase in prices, it doesn't seem like those 4 boxes would translate into much value to try and purchase something else.

Pretty much this. I'll add the mascot inserts are very fun for kids and the blue parallels have been sneaky nice looking.

There are some particular really really tough shortprints with great images.
Cheaper than flagship, but I believe the card stock is also of lower quality.

Overall, flagship is far superior than Opening Day, but I bought my 2 boxes anyways, just to rip for fun.

Go with a case :flex: that's what I'm doing. Only benefit of getting 2 blasters is to hope to l pull 2 wanders, so stick to hobby. Might get lucky and pull a wander ssp. Those should bring in a good amount.

The days of cheap rips disappeared way before any of the other examples you provided. It's not the same thing. The pandemic, the flippers, the new influx of deep-pocket investors started the escalating prices for unopened product, not inflation.

Not an error. Stomper and a few other mascots (Blue Jay's mascot) have been referred to as 'Mascot' on their cards due to copyright/licensing issues of some kind for every year they've been in the set. Go look at 2019's checklist. A's, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks and Orioles mascots are all called Mascot. Some of teams also never get their mascots in the sets at all (Lou Seal of the Giants I don't believe has made an appearance at all).


I had a surprisingly strong break of 4 boxes, hitting 2 autos and a relic, with the odds at 1/485 (relic), 1/849 (Opening Day auto) and 1/3395 (Ballpark Profile auto). Really happy to have hit the Ballpark Profile auto of Tim McCarver as I'm collecting those from each of the years. Collation on the first two boxes was bad because they were nearly identical with the contents of packs following the exact same card order and basically every insert was exactly the same (in nearly the exact same order in the packs being opened out of the box).

Pulled a Wander a box and at least 1 blue foil a box, with one having 2 (box also had the relic) and one having 3 (there were no 'hits' otherwise in this box).

I got 4 boxes for cheap rips. Ripping packs is my favorite part of the hobby. If I can pull a big hit, AWESOME! If not, well at least I got to hang out with my friend and rip some cards together. Gives us stuff to do together.

Thats the smart thing Topps has done with this product to make it more sought after.... I started to notice it in 2020 with the Luis Robert SP. Thats what they need to do is for any planned Series 2 scheduled RC, just make them a short print in Opening Day

Also with it being lower quality paper, the condition is hard to get good grades so it is almost like a throwback to the older sets when they used cheaper quality paper (to what is used now).

What Topps should've done is ditch this & put more effort into Big League, which still wasn't released in 2021. At this point, I wonder if we'll even see a 2022 release of Big League.

At least Topps hasn't had the balls to start taking preorders for Big League 2022. I was really looking forward to 2021 BL especially with that design and the bigger figure list.

You are right they aren't case hits. I assumed they were. More in the 1 in 2 range as there are 36 packs per box in these and 20 boxes per case at 1:1698. My guess is it works out to get an SP Image variation or Luck of the Irish per case.

Typically, there's a RARE Insert or SP a Case, but most of them have long odds so none are 1/case if that makes sense

Relics in this are still a tough pull, but it feels like the boxes play out with something in each vs the blasters and other retail targeted products. If you're interested in selling the Bernie Brewers relic I'm interested in moving money your direction.

After ripping 4 hobby boxes and 4 blasters between my friend and I, this is not a terrible product. Had a ton of fun. We found the odds to be pretty spot on in regards to the easier to hit inserts (friend did pull a relic). No HUGE hits but got a couple Wanders, nearly completed two sets of mascots.

Definitely not something for those who are used to ripping $400+ boxes and chasing that massive hit. But for someone just getting into the hobby, getting back into it, ripping with kids, or just scratching that itch of just needing to rip ANYTHING.....perfect set. Blasters at <$1 pack? Uh...sold.

Though I will say this was a fun rip. Like someone else stated, you aren't going to necessarily pull a monster (did get a relic and was surprised (at least based on the pack odds) how uncommon that was, but I get it, it's a "kids set". Might be tempted to pick up another box or two if I can find them for retail.

Kind of emblematic of the level of detail Topps puts into this one lately. Justin Upton gets a card. The RCs in general are just really getting to be reaches at times.
