Greetings Fellow Collectors!

I finally feel like it's time to create a thread for my collection. Although I know I may be the only Cole Tucker collector in the universe and these cards don't hold much "value" to the average person, I've really enjoyed this adventure. It used to be all about the flip for me, but since I've fully committed to this PC, I now only buy and sell to fund this PC. There are several out there and available - I have MANY eBay searches saved with notifications and check regularly - but many are more than I'm willing to spend for that particular card. While I'd love to own every parallel that exists, I'm on a limited budget and want to save funds for the potential Platinum 1/1, Superfractor and printing plates. Hopefully this thread doesn't start any competition, but I doubt there's many people out there who collect the Pirates or a slower-to-develop prospect, so I should be safe.

I plan to regularly update this thread as my PC grows and my wish list evolves. I'd like to give a shout out to VandyCards and his Tony Kemp Parallel Obsession thread that inspired me to commit to this PC and create a thread.

Primary: 2019 Topps Update US197 Parallels (specifically lower numbered)
Secondary: 2019 Topps Chrome Update CUA-CT Auto Parallels
Extra: Other 2019 (Rookie Year) and Pre-RC low number parallels

Why Cole Tucker?:

I re-entered the hobby back in early 2019 after my Mom gave me the last of my stuff from my childhood house - including all my old cards. Most of them were worthless (junk wax era stuff, plus a bunch of guys that I thought would be the next Griffey and didn't pan out). After digging through my boxes, I was instantly re-addicted, and having a good job with some disposable income and free time, I started buying wax and watching the game again.

Flash forward a couple weeks, and I'm busting a case of 2019 Topps Series 1 Hobby while watching the Pirates game on TV. It's 4/20 (a holiday for us stoners), so I was pretty blazed up as well. A strapping young switch hitting SS is making his debut, and in his 3rd at-bat he crushes a home run over the center field fence to give the Pirates the lead, which ended up being the difference when the game was rained out shortly after. His parents and little brother were shown in the stands going nuts, and at that moment he became my favorite player. He's been a lot of fun to collect because there's a fair amount of options, and he's not well collected, so I've been able to snag quite a few for good prices.

Tucker is a super nice kid and good guy to collect. For those of us that get autographs at minor league games, Tucker is sort of a legend. Always took time for everyone, signed pretty much anything you asked for, and would stop and talk to every kid. Also a very fun player to watch.

Good luck on the collection! Always wanted to pick up some of those SP/SSP RCs. Really cool looking cards. I’ll make sure to clear any purchases with you first!

Far from my favorite, but lots of parallels to chase and the Rated Rookie stamp is nostalgic for me. I picked up most of these up on COMC for cheap, and keep an eye out for the missing ones but I'm not willing to pay much of a premium, with the exception being the 1/1 probably.

I remember when Cole was drafted and had hoped he would have panned out a little better at the plate, but he's reportedly a great guy. He's not done yet, so who knows.

I have seen him signing all kinds of autos for kids at PNC Park before games during the times he's been in the Bigs.

Thanks for giving me a great deal! It's probably my favorite card in my collection right now, it check's all the boxes. So glad I found BO - it's connected me with awesome people like you, awesome cards like the one you hooked me up with, and a place to "show off" what I've put together. Thanks Rwg14! I've never had the chance to meet him, but he seems like a very fun and likable person. There's plenty of autos out there, and some awesome board members have even sent me IP auto cards of him. I think guys like him are great for the game and the hobby, I think I got lucky in picking him to collect.

This is a "bonus" card, a 5x7 sepia version of the SSP from 2019 Topps Update.

I have no idea where these came from, whether online or box toppers? I'm not really sure. I also know that no one cares about the 5x7s, but I love the SSP picture so a few bucks for this /10 was a no brainer for me. It's a great card to display in my office too.

Picked this jersey numbered bad boy up on eBay for $6.50 shipped, lower than the cost of the slab. Also my first CSG slab, and while I'm not a fan of graded stuff, it seems like a high quality slab and looks pretty good.

Also, why doesn't Topps have consistency amongst color parallels? Red is usually /5, but here it's /25.

It's been a while... life has kicked my a$$ recently and the hobby has taken a significant back seat.

That said, I've had some nice pickups for the PC, and got a big one in today. The SP Auto is hard to come by, and I've only seen a couple posted. I was able to snag this up on eBay for $30 shipped, which I think is a steal, despite the sticker being all sorts of off-center.

Things have dried up for the most part, and the few cards that are out there are pretty ridiculously priced ($399.99 for a Indy /76 on eBay, $80 for a black /67 on COMC, etc) so I'lll hold off.

I think I'm down to 1/1s, which I haven't seen surface at all. Thanks for looking, and let me know if you see anything out there!

Very cool! I’m a Giants fan and have much less dedicated and smaller Eugenio Velez and Kevin Correia PCs that started off in really similar ways.

Should have a fun update soon with lots of additions. My divorce is almost finalized so I've been able to refocus on this a little bit.

2 quick complaints/rants for those of you willing to listen and/or provide feedback.

1. I can't believe no one offers binder pages that are specifically made for top loaders. It seems like a no brainer to me. I want to better display my collection but also want the extra protection of rigid top loaders. Especially when I need to occasionally remove cards from the pages to reorganize.

2. Cole Tucker's cards really haven't come down in price much. This complaint may not get much love, but here's my thing... As much as I love the guy, it sure looks like his career is headed towards obscurity. He's now a Rockie utility guy, and with his age, he's hardly a top prospect. Sure, he recently got engaged to a celebrity, but I doubt that's really holding up his cards. I've been frustratingly surprised that I can't seem to nab his parallels at any better prices than I was getting them for the last few years. I'll still be looking and buying at the right prices, but it's odd to me.

Thanks for responding. Honestly, if that's the reason then I retract my complaint and will continue my collecting venture. I guess I'm going to continue regardless but, ya know.

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting him in person but he sure seems genuine and a fun person to be around. I certainly wish him happiness and success regardless of his card market. I don't plan on selling unless I'd absolutely have to. There's something about a collection that I know I'll never be able to completely finish that's cool, and this US197 card and CT in general hooked me for so many reasons including good timing.

I've been adding lots of new cards to the collection but haven't been good about updating this thread. I did, however, list the whole collection on eBay. As the listing says, I'm not actually looking to move this (although I would for the right price), but I think it's a clever way to "show off" the collection and possibly find new cards to add.

I've really been enjoying the top loader binder pages too.

Big card came in for my collection today... my first 1/1 of the US197, the black printing plate. I know printing plates aren't nearly as sought after as other 1/1s, but there's something cool about knowing that this went into the production of all those copies of my favorite card.

I'm still adding cards to the collection as they come for sale, but things are slow. I did add a Black /67 for really cheap, someone put one on eBay with a BIN of like $4. Thank god for eBay notifications.

Bumping this just to say that Cole Tucker is currently sitting directly behind the announcers table at Wrestlemania. I was extremely proud of my daughter for recognizing him before I did on television.

I've acquired quite a few more CT cards since my last update, and have put a lot of time into organizing them into binders. Unfortunately I haven't done a good job of updating this thread or tracking my NEW cards for such updates. Also, I haven't found a great way to take pictures of the binder pages. Any suggestions?

Someone recently added 2 CT 1/1s on eBay, which are from his 2019 rookie year but not at the top of my list of needs. They're also incredibly overpriced - and while I support the right to list/sell your cards for whatever you want - I can't imagine there are a lot of collectors competing with me for his cards. Any suggestions on how to word an eBay message to the seller?

As always, lemme know if you have any Cole Tucker cards (especially lower numbered stuff and unique stuff) and happy collecting!

Just as a point of reference those 1/1s are about double what I paid for my Frazier platinum (although it was a few years ago). My platinum isn’t a RC, so probably not comparable, but the CTs seem pretty high IMHO.

I was always hesitant to admit to a seller that I was a “super” collector of Adam, figured it they would assume I would pay whatever it took.

Love the collection btw, definitely a fan of CT, especially when he was a Buc.

I've exhausted my offers on one card of a similar player I collect. Fortunately, I got the red #/5 from another seller for only a slight overpay compared to what it would go for at auction.

I would want a message to include: 1) comp to similar card that has probably sold for a lot less than what their list price is. 2) statement that you collect this player.

I tend to make offers and if they get rejected, or if the counters are closer to ask price and not close to realistic, I just walk away. Come back in a month or two.

Another option, "hi, if you ever decide to auction this card, I will definitely bid on it". Sometimes I do see a high list price BIN finally get listed as an auction after months of not selling.

I was lucky to land the Kieboom '19 TCU superfractor via auction, so I didn't have to negotiate. But now I see non-super cards listed for more than the super sold for. :doh:

Both, but to her credit (in my mind), she was able to think of Tucker's name before she was able to remember Hudgens' name. If she didn't open baseball cards and watch Pirates games with me (when Cole was with the Buccos), she wouldn't have known him. During Wrestlemania, he got a lot of screen time both nights, but especially on Sunday night. Every time they showed the announcers, he was in the shot.
