Seems like he’s getting better each outing since moving into the starting rotation… 0 earned runs with 16 strikeouts, 1 walk and 10 hits over 16 innings in his last 2 starts!!

Great year. Will be a huge boost if he can be a solid starter for them next year.

Still can’t believe he didn’t get the nod in one of those crucial Atlanta games. It was always gonna be a long shot but you have to roll with your 1B pitcher in a time like that. What a season though. Reliever/Closer/Starter and he dominated in all three roles. Special pitcher.

Only 10 times EVER had a player had 100+ innings and a sub-1.40 ERA
Walter Johnson 1913
Dutch Leonard 1914
GC Alexander 1915
Ferdie Schupp 1916
Walter Johnson 1918
Red Munger 1944
Ted Abernathy 1967
Bob Gibson 1968
Bruce Sutter 1977
Ranger Suarez 2021
Plus an MVP front runner, a leading CY candidate for first majority of the season, and the bastards still couldn’t make the playoffs

Way too funny. Same people in other threads saying "Harper is all Phillies have, he willed them into playoff contention"...... now saying after cy young contender wheeler, the Phillies have another stud pitcher this year.
Can't make this stuff up
Regarding Suarez- seems to be legit, looks like he will be a good one

Do pitchers produce runs?

Do pitchers produce runs?
With a 1.50 era, do they need to?

There's a vast difference between "carrying a team to the playoffs" and "having a stud player"
