I purchased this about 8 years ago but just came across it in a drawer and thought it would be a cool piece to share.

The shipping box is addressed to a person at an elementary school and the UPS tracking sticker says March of 1991. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220108/83daddfe50fdab9f90e05466553b979b.jpg

The first thing out of the box is a VHS that says “Play Ball” and is 13:50 minutes long. There is a pamphlet on the kit and what to expect. Also included were (4) packs of 1990 Donruss, I am guessing to giveaway as prizes.

Next out of the box is the lesson plans for subjects such as math, creative writing, geography, history and more. There is also a form to fill out if any student would like there own set of cards for a cost of $5.00.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220108/d58a2704612060db4cc15aa4c7143c78.jpg

Also included in the kit are (4) wall posters that have a timeline on each showcasing important baseball moments throughout history. (The posters were curled up so I had to use something on each side to display them for the photo).https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220108/a9bed82630bba9775ec20f460c183494.jpg

The last thing included is the 55 card set of 1990 Donruss Learning Series cards. The cool thing about these cards are that they use totally different photos than the regular base set from 1990. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220108/3f3fb917f0561f73d6bd8709100c4c7a.jpg

The kit says that this is to be used for 3rd or 4th grade school kids.
I wish my elementary would have used this kit for me to learn subjects, that would have been a dream come true.

Thank you for checking out my post, hope you enjoyed it.

That is absolutely awesome. Hard to believe 31 years later we're learning more about Donruss. Different photos too, that's fantastic.

Wish I kept it, but I'm sure I just wore the hell out of it and eventually (my mom) had to toss it.

The real question is why manufacturers aren't doing more to get cards in schools by developing products like this?

I donate cards to my local schools on a regular basis, and they are always well received.

When I was in grade schools (70's/80's), our math teacher used the stats on card backs to teach various math concepts, and our English teacher had use do a basic research/writing projects based on players/cards from our local teams.

Sweet mother of god. If you ever want to sell all of that, I'm your Huckleberry. The 1990 Donruss set is a bit of an obsession for me. Thank you for sharing!

ETA: Even if you wanted to keep the Learning Series set, I don't need that. Just interested in all the other stuff. So awesome.

I have never seen another one like it. I am actually going to use it for its intended purpose to teach my 3 little kids about the concepts listed (and reinforce baseball card collecting). They are still a few years off from the target age but I might be willing to part with it after the lesson.

I remember buying packs of these when I was a kid. Strange but I really liked them, the Juan Gonzalez reverse negative is one of my favorite card.

Yes it would seem that sports and school are both still very relevant so fusing the two together would make sense. But probably not used because cards are a physical object that is not preloaded in the schools Ipad.

That would be greatly appreciated. I would be embarrassed to reveal the amount of time I have spent researching the Donruss company and its inner workings.

Topps supposedly still does topps of the class, but I think the last year of so of it had inserts, so I imagine many dealers just rip them.
