I was in a break where I won a red, green and refractor Trammell auto redemption cards. Cracked a case and got a few more, both base and color refractor autos. Went to scratch off, smeared, and messy. Logged them in, and anything that was not a base redemption, any refractor was not recognized! Wasted a bunch of time on this....scratching off, logging in, logging in the card and now I have to spend time filing out the cards writing really small, and sending them off with tracking and insurance only to wait months to see f the redemption will actually come through.
The fun of pulling a red, green and refractor from a 4 box break is gone, gee Topps, thanks!
( In the same break I also got a Lewis Gold auto.....crazy stuff!)

Nah, OP isn't exactly on an island with this complaint. I pulled 7 redemptions out of 2 cases of Bowman's Best and a few of them had me trying to put on my best Dr. John Nash shades as I attempted to decipher the faint lines and curves and lay out the possible sequences for each questionable character.
Upon catching the right code, did I high five myself and mutter "you are, quite simply, the best natural codebreaker I have ever seen" to myself as if it were coming from my imaginary CIA handler? You better believe it.
Such is the reality of The Topps Redemption Experience.

Just hang in there buddy! I know how frustrating it is as I waited like 2.5 years for my last card which was a Griffey redemption but finally did receive it. I probably wouldn't get any more redemption cards myself after that but couldn't be happier with the card. Here's the card I am referring to:

I would personally just assume that if you buy or crack a Topps redemption that you'll need to mail it in. If you happen to be able to do it online, consider yourself lucky.

I had the same issue with a redemption card I pulled 2 weeks ago. Had to mail it in. Quite upset as well.

I've heard, but cannot confirm, that you should scratch Topps redemptions with a dime, not a penny.
Thankfully, I haven't had a Topps redemption of anything in some time. My last one was a Jo Adell auto from Tribute back in July... boy, did I do a number on that scratch off strip. Definitely had to get the loupe and cheaters out to figure what that code was suppose to be. Still think it took me 3 or 4 attempts before I hit the exact right numbers/letters!

This was true until it wasn't for me. To be precise, 2021 All Star Rookie Cup redemptions. I've now got a method where I try to scrape off all of the strip that's definitely NOT covering the code, just to see what I'm working with. I then kinda edge up on the code slowly with a coin until I can see the tops of the characters. Do the same with the bottom. I sketch out what I think the code will be in case the characters disintegrate. Sometimes the rest comes off easily and the code is clear but other times it's like it self-destructs on impact. I can usually tell what I'm dealing with by the top of the code.
