Hello all, first post so apologize if this is not the right place to post this. I've looked everywhere for info on a coin I have to no avail. It's a 1997 Pinnacle Mint Collection Brett Favre solid silver coin. I've had it since I was younger and only collect basketball and wrestling at this point so I'm looking to ID it.

If anyone remembers Pinnacle Mint, packs would come with base cards, die-cuts cards for coinciding coins to slot in, and 1 or 2 coins per pack. There were multiple "chases" for the coins as seen in the checklist including silver and gold plated. I'm ultimately trying to figure out rarity as I know it's the solid silver coin, but I can't find pack odds, print run, or any sold sales from Pinnacle Mint football or baseball. I also don't know if how the silver has aged will hurt the value considering it's not necessarily old enough to be vintage. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Great item! I remember opening some packs back in 1997, and then a cheap box I picked up like 10 years ago since I thought they were cool, and the price was right, like a $1/pack or something like that.

I was able to find the pack odds by googling "1997 pinnacle mint nfl odds" and the 2nd link for baseballcardpedia had a lot of good information on the set.

It says that there were 20 of each solid silver coin made for each player, and the odds were 1:23,000!

Pretty cool that it came with a card that lets you know you pulled a solid silver coin. I always wondered if you would be able to tell for sure the silver and gold coins, since there were silver colored coins that were like 2 per box, and I wasn't sure if you could tell the difference easily.

I wouldn't worry about the silver being a little tarnished, that's what silver does. You could always clean it, but I would probably avoid doing that, I think most people would prefer it in the original state.

I saw that page! That's what made me dig a little deeper. It's the baseball set for that year and I would assume they'd have the same print runs but the coin isn't physically numbered so I hoped to find the football set to be sure.

The "COA" it comes with is pretty cool. Unearthing my set was really fun though. I had the entire base set minus 3 coins. I must've ripped a ton as a kid. Thanks for looking around, I will likely move the coin with this info.

Pics don’t work for me, but the ‘96 is marked fine silver on the back. I heard the same……20 silvers for each. The other similar in color were nickel plated.

Crap, I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to see my pics but I did just setup that Flickr account. It does have "fine silver" on the back as well. It's basically this ebay listing (https://www.ebay.com/itm/233908914414?hash=item36760ec8ee:g:QIkAAOSw0sxgNtLu) but the solid silver version. It's good to know my info lined up with yours, appreciate it.
