Not a Colts fan, but so many teams like to pretend like they didn’t make a mistake, so good for them for admitting it and moving on so quickly. And Washington, my gosh, what are you doing.
Oh my!
Trade terms, per sources…
Colts get:
🏈2022 third-round pick
🏈2023 third-round pick that can become a second if Carson Wentz plays 70 percent of plays.
🏈2022 second-round pick
Commanders get:
🏈QB Carson Wentz
🏈2022 second-round pick.

🏈2023-2nd or 2023-3rd
Colts gave up:

I'm sure a study exists but if you did a study over time of draft picks and weighted them to an average round/pick # against performance, longevity and success at their position, some of these picks for players might make more sense?
How many 3rd rounders are a) better than Wentz (who plays a key position) and actually pan out?
I guess it comes down to his good a team is a drafting versus trading that draft capital.

I dunno. I guess I am in the minority. They get a QB that was playing at an MVP level for half a season not that long ago.

I almost don't care who the Colts pick up at this point, I'm just glad to be done with the Wentz project. The guy wasn't a leader and despite being gifted a league leading rushing attack, couldn't play consistently well and often made some seriously boneheaded decisions. He's not a coachable player, based on everything I've seen. If Reich couldn't get through to him, I don't see how anything will change for Wentz in Washington. Wentz was an utter failure when the Colts merely needed him to be competent down the stretch. The losses to Vegas and Jacksonville sealed his fate.
As for who the Colts bring in, all the usual suspects are being named and very few feel like more than a lateral move. Carr intrigues me, but I can't imagine what the Colts will have to give up to get him. Jimmy, Winston, Trubisky, Bridgewater...none of those names inspire me. This will be the fifth year in a row the Colts will have a different starting quarterback under Reich. That's insane. In fact, I cannot recall any team in the last 30 years that had this kind of turnover at the most important position on the field.

they’ll need to upgrade that WR cast pronto too
Wentz was actually decent most of last year (with a good running game). Heard from weeks 6-15 (or something like that) he was a top 5 QBR QB.
McLaurin is better than anything the Colts had as well.
To me Wentz was worth 2 third round picks.

I don’t get the bashing of this guy. His overall performance the past few seasons hasn’t been close to bad.

Cowboys, Bears, Dolphins, and Raiders from the early aughts shuffled a lot of QBs through.
Specifically, the 1999-2018 Browns would like a word with you:
1999 Tim Couch / Ty Detmer
2000 Doug Pederson / Tim Couch / Spergon Wynn
2001 Tim Couch
2002 Tim Couch / Kelly Holcomb
2003 Kelly Holcomb / Tim Couch
2004 Jeff Garcia / Luke McCown / Kelly Holcomb
2005 Trent Dilfer / Charlie Frye
2006 Charlie Frye / Derek Anderson
2007 Derek Anderson / Charlie Frye
2008 Derek Anderson / Brady Quinn / Ken Dorsey / Bruce Gradkowski
2009 Brady Quinn / Derek Anderson
2010 Colt McCoy / Jake Delhomme / Seneca Wallace
2011 Colt McCoy / Seneca Wallace
2012 Brandon Weeden / Thad Lewis
2013 Jason Campbell / Brandon Weeden / Brian Hoyer
2014 Brian Hoyer / Johnny Manziel / Connor Shaw
2015 Josh McCown / Johnny Manziel / Austin Davis
2016 Cody Kessler / Robert Griffin III / Josh McCown
2017 DeShone Kizer / Kevin Hogan
2018 Baker Mayfield / Tyrod Taylor

Bears quarterback shuffle indeed. Just at the turn of the century:
2000 - McNown 9, Matthews 5, Miller 2
2001 - Miller 13, Matthews 3
2002 - Miller 8, Chandler 7, Burris 1
2003 - Stewart 7, Chandler 6, Grossman 3
2004 - Krenzel 5, Hutchinson 5, Quinn 3, Grossman 3
2005 - Orton 15, Grossman 1
2006 - Grossman 16
2007 - Grossman 7, Greise 6, Orton 3
2008 - Orton 15, Grossman 1
2009 - Cutler 16
Carson Wentz looks like Jay Cutler 2.0 and Jeff George 3.0.

Having mentioned the Bears, I get it from a Colts fan perspective. Since 1998, the position was always a stable one, only surpassed by the stability of the Packers. The last 4-5 years have been a whirlwind for Indy fans, it sucks to be on the other side of the coin now.

Wentz was not throwing wide open checkdowns to JT, who had room to run and could make people miss even if he wasn't wide open. That was infuriating.

Actually that is up. When a team or athlete is bet against the odds lengthen against them and it's vice versa the other way.

Just that none of his teammates, coaches or ownership liked him from the moment he arrived. He doesn't have any leadership skills, he has an abrasive personality, he is resistant to coaches and plays too recklessly. Basically the same things everyone in Philly said. Apparently Wentz requested a meeting with Jim Irsay after the season to clear the air and Irsay declined. He sounds like Jay Cutler 2.0

7 picks is reckless? Obviously there seems to be too much smoke for him to be the greatest teammate. He could be a guy who's success went to his head and is now not listening to advice.
People said Cutler but he could be Jeff George 2.0 too.

Maybe that's an exaggeration but that's seems like the opinion of everyone that has played or worked with him from the stories I've read. I mean, he has to be a pretty bad person if everyone across two organizations has a bad opinion of him. Now he goes to a real dumpster fire situation so that should be fun.

There were some unnamed "sources" out of Philly saying he was a bad teammate, then many named sources that came out to refute it publicly. Most of the bad press on him this year was because he decided to not take the vaccine.
I like Wentz, but he just doesn't know when to give up on a play. He tries to play hero ball and he gets injured or makes a bone-headed mistake as a result. If he can't get that part of his game figured out, he will never be more than a middle of the road QB. If he does, he could be very, very good. He is quickly running out of chances though.
Locally we have an annual charity fundraiser for all non-profits. We are a small company, and each year allow our employees to donate $250 to a charity of their choice. One of my employees chose Carson's AO1 charity this year. About 2 hours after submitting the donation, Carson himself called my office and personally thanked us for the donation. It was the only call we got thanking us. I thought that was pretty cool.

I guess I don't look at charitable foundations as selfish endeavors.
If you go looking for people that say Carson is a bad teammate, you can find it. If you go looking for people that say he is a good teammate, you can find that too. Truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
People are allowed bad days. Hell, Micheal Jordan punched Steve Kerr (and others) in practice and is still the GOAT.
