Hi guys,
Curious to what people think the value is of the below… I haven’t seen a Kobe chrome w/ a patch like this, but think it’s pretty damn cool

I'd be a little suspicious of ggumcard.com products. Not much from reputable sources about them. Did they reprint the BGS label? Weird...

Weren't these made in the late 90s/early 2000s along with Beckett? Similar to manufacturers partnering with grading companies in that time frame(UD Graded, Donruss Graded)? If so, and the card is legit, the value is in the Kobe Chrome card. The patch is just a cool piece that comes along with it.

Sure the site design is outdated, but the documentation for the items presented is very impressive.

Possibly legit at first... I believe the partnership with Beckett ended quickly. Lots of fake BGS slabs appeared after this engagement, related or not, around 2012-2013. Many collectors reject these slabs (can check the various forums). This slab doesn't appear to have the BGS patent number that appears on the bottom. Card may be real, but the slab and grading are questionable. Personally, I'd never buy one of these, given the bad press and unknown authenticity.

To clarify - this
I didn’t meant the Kobe was fake
This whole slab with a patch pretending to be legit BGS (on it’s own merit) is fake
The card is worth what Kobe is worth

fake Beckett label, fake slab from a fake company. card doesn't appear a Beckett gem. it is certainly worth less than you thought when you started the thread.

GGum was a real program. The website looks pathetic, but that doesn't mean the patches aren't real. For the people that are calling it fake, do you have any more info?
Here's an older thread that talks more about GGum

I'm not presenting it as proof, just a showing previous convos for more context. Do you have any other info we can consider?

Look... even pack-pulled, first card manufacturing errors get a big shrug with this crowd. You might still find a collector who still likes the patch.

Nomad, ponies, deadshot, thank you. Also, that other thread was very helpful
Didn’t realize this was going to upset people [emoji23].
Have a great weekend all

This is a thread on the Beckett boards that describes what is in this one. Unfortunately I didn't see any pictures. Beckett reps responded and confirmed they are the real deal. I can't say for this one specifically but maybe an email would be good.

Reading that Beckett thread, from what I vaguely recall, they partnered with ggum and you could request a game used piece of certain players to be slabbed with the card as an extra service.

No problem, its leaning towards legit but....I would still recommend doing your research on the label design front and back. Also email Beckett pictures to confirm. Fraudsters have been known to fake slabs but this one seems like a lot of work.
