I assume we’re going to see more of this, with NIL deals allowed now. Why not launch your own cards?

Interesting, would think a QB or Skill guy would do it first. This could easily look like a failure

I am surprised celebs and athletes haven't done this before. Why not get someone to create 1000+ custom cards to sign and sell on your own website?

I've wondered this too. I would 100% buy an auto of several celebs if they did this (mostly MCU related).

If an athlete releases a card though it is unlicensed right? No SC logo on the helmet.

They don’t look terrible. Props to him. Make that money

Interesting tactic. 500 cards total. The 5 that include his jersey # are being sold as #/5, and then the other 99 in the first 100 being sold as out of 99. But every card is #/500
There's definitely some Ebay 1/1 style math going on. I'm sure the boosters will have no problem helping him sell out. $90 for an airbrushed, logoless #/99 auto of an offensive lineman? Hard pass.

This is kind of awesome. Skill guy or not, I dig it.

Luka Doncic has already. We even think he signed them himself... ;-)
Never heard of him. I see hes been on Twitter for 8 years, and has only 1,800 followers. For an undecorated O-Lineman, he sure values his own trading cards pretty high.
He will make almost $40K if he sells through these. Good for him, I guess.

possibly not much of a gamble on his part. on choice's website, their starting price for 500 cards is only $99.

Unlicensed really never does much for me, but if a guy from the school I collect releases his own cards, I would be much more likely to buy those than a Leaf product. I hope he does really well with these.

I think it's pretty cool and cuts out a lot of overhead for the player. Presumably Neilon had more direct say on the card design and/or photo used.

Same here. Leaf has the brand recognition and ability to do some nicer designs but if Neilon got drafted by the Bears, I'd be happy to have his own produced card vs a Leaf/Sage/Wild Card. Not at $50 though.

It depends on the school. Some schools are allowing players to use their logos in NIL products, but there is 0 consistency between schools at the moment
