Just curious to know what thoughts are to as to what price to sell a complete sealed bagged set of 1984-85 Star Co. The Bulls bag has MJ as the top card and is in good condition except for some fading on the edges due to light. Every other bag, seems that it is all in mint condition, including the bag with the other two MJ’s.

Doubt there are any comps to go by from the last year or so,as a guess i would say 50-60k,Assuming the bags can be proven authentic and are not graded.I would contact Steve Taft and get his opinion if anyone would be able to give you solid numbers it would be him.

I would think there would be huge variations all dependent on the condition of the jordan bag. Need to figure that part out first before you do anything. That will determine if you will be flipping that set for a used car or a beach house.

Here is the Bulls bag. As you can see, around the edges there is fading as a result of being in direct sunlight.

Card doesn't look right to me.
Border is too big at top considering bottom.
Edges don't look faded, they look worn in a non authentic manner.

Stay away.

Solutions-wise, the OP could send it to I guess BGS to be authenticated/graded, I've seen Star team bags in larger BGS slabs before.

might also see about getting in contact with Steve Taft or Todd Crosner who are experts in this area, or barring that getting in touch with auction houses like those found here (https://www.auctionreport.com) (Heritage, REA, Goldin, etc.)

Sounds like he's considering buying it, not currently in possession....
I would not buy it myself, and I've owned two.
Currently own this one.

Bgs has not graded sealed bags in a long time

I'm not sure how to attach a better picture here. Here is a link to it on instagram.

For what it's worth, I did send this picture to Steve Taft in an email after I purchased it, and he said it was authentic as far as he could tell from the picture.

Also, when I purchased it, the seller sent it to me with the form included from BGS saying they no longer grade sealed bags.

You need better pictures. Front and back. Download Tapatalk app. You don't typically see cards sealed in plastic with all that corner wear.

That's the thing... the corners are crisp. Only the color has faded on the corners and edges

I sold all my Star bball cards. Why do you think non of the big 3 grade these anymore?

It can't be THAT hard to duplicate a plastic bag that looks just like the original sealed bags. Given the rarity, I would assume buyer is asking for tens of thousands. Just buy a nice 1986 Fleer MJ PSA 9 and have thousands left over.

I don't like it myself, don't like the border sizes, don't like 'faded' edges and corners.
You would want to be into it for a significant discount to take on a card that is at best authentic, and I question it is even that.

What is going to shield the top of the card in a manner to just expose the absolute edges? Cards behind it don't seem affected, and if the MJ were somehow covered by a perfectly sized other star card to only expose the edges, then the cards behind would have suffered similar levels of exposure.

It's just doesn't look right.

While i would never question Steve on Star Co,something isnt right with that bag,Forgetting the discoloration for a sec,i been buying Star since they released them in the early 80's never seen a jordan RC with boarders that way (my only caveat would be if the card was cut to tall) ,the edges are strange also.not sure thats sun fade either just the edges?from the smaller picture you can see the heat seal just not close enough really to see if its a original seal,it does look like it buy not close enough to be sure.

Not a chance i would have paid for that personally.

Its the heat seal thats hard to fake, but anything is possible if you try hard enough.
