I’ve been doing quite a bit of research on NBA cards and I want to start pulling the trigger on some purchases. Which cards/products hold up the best? Here’s some I am curious on, specifically speaking non-auto or patch RC’s (just base):

-Prizm (obviously this is predominant RC)
-Immaculate (appear to be a really nice RC to own but short print run so… $$$)
-Select (seem to but a little cheaper but still hold up, really like the court side)
-Mosaic (not sure on these ones)
-Donruss Optic

Any others to look out for? I really like variations which I know Prizm has.

Prizm
Optic
Select

Lower numbered, desirable color and parallels.

That should be your wheel house for base rookies.

If you're looking for auto/patch. NT, flawless and immaculate.

The rest is noise unless you really like it

National Treasures is far and away the most superior product for NBA.

Flawless is second, despite being (in my opinion) superior to National Treasures in every way.

Prizm/Optic/Select after that. Also throw in Immaculate and Impeccable.

My opinions.

Prizm is the most popular. Select was more limited until recently so it depends on the year. It was hobby only product until 2019. Optic is always nice. Revolution is nice it used to be one Galactic every case i think, i'm not sure about now. NT, Flawless, Immaculate on the high end. Though Immaculate seems to have faded in popularity a bit over the last few years for the most recent stuff. I'm not sure why. I don't even remember seeing the product over the last couple years tbh. I don't know what's going on with that one.

Now might not be the best time to buy NBA, it being playoffs and all

Lebron seems to be undervalued at the moment and possibly Kobe. Don't think you're getting value on anyone else.

What’s your intention? To hold cards long term and make money? Just collect for the fun of it?

One thing I’ll add is Panini really started overproducing more & creating more parallels from 2018-2020 i believe to generalize. Personally I try to collect from the years 2005-2015 because of that. There’s so many cards, parallels the last couple years I think it’s watered down. If you’re just looking for awesome cards that will at least hold value over time I’d recommend looking at say 2012 KOBE, Lebron, Curry cards over say 2019 of the same cards.
