Sold a high value card on Ebay and the buyer is located in Japan. Im having a hard time trying to ship it because apparently Japan is excluded from Ebays global shipping program for some reason. Is there any USPS service that can guarantee signature confirmation? UPS said it would be $260, haven't checked FedEx yet but I'm assuming it's about the same. Anyone have success shipping to Japan?

Tell them to set up a mailbox with SMC, COMC, or PWCC. Works better for you too since they can’t file INAD if it goes through a 3rd party

When we sold on Ebay I believe we sold about 8 items that went to Japan and 3 of them were disaster stories. Lost about $1100 on the three items. Always showed delivered but that wasn't enough for ebay.

How were the 3 disasters shipped and did they include signature confirmation?
Dont ship to international buyers or international buyers that use mailbox services in Delaware.
Trust me.

Its a Japan address and buyer has agreed to pay for the FedEx shipping including insurance and signature confirmation. With that I should be good to go shouldn't I?

Oh yea well packed and everything and signature conformation. Cause it was a ton to get it signed for and it showed signed for all the time but still lost some how. I would not send a $1 card back over there. Bad apples everywhere. Ours were Fed Ex also.

A girl can walk alone safely at 4am in the streets of tokyo after a night at the bar, but you cannot send sports cards safely by mail ?
That should say what the sports cards collector basically is. Sad state of the hobby.

FedEx will take your insurance money but does NOT insure sports cards. Under no circumstances, would I ship to Japan (with eBay involved) or a credit card or PayPal. You are playing with fire and clearly way out of your league!

I live in Japan.
I get packages from the US via USPS all the time (from COMC and SMC). Last-mile delivery is done by Japan Post here, and they've always delivered F2F (they never just leave it in my mailbox). In terms of reliability, USPS/ Japan Post is a pretty solid option IMO.
I won't deny that there are bad apples here too, but if the person is willing to pay for FedEx and insurance/ signature confirmation, it sounds like a pretty reliable buyer to me.

Seems like an odd statement to throw in there.

If that's your takeaway, you proved my point.

How so? Not sure how questioning shipping to Japan makes me way out of my league. Ive been on Ebay since the very beginning but have just never shipped an item to Japan and wanted others take on it.
Oh and by the way Fedex does insure sports cards and other collectibles up to 1K by they way

Yup, Japan has the most secured and great system of personal mailbox and delivery system second to none.

Japan and Korea are the only Asian countries that I would sell to. I almost got scammed by a Canadian couple times. I've been on eBay for a long time, I maybe sold 1 item to Japan which is surprising. At the same time, I don't do international shipping which is why I don't get Asian eBay sales.

I didn't use to sell internationally but with Ebays Global Shipping program its made it much easier. Still don't do many international sells even with GSP but was not aware that Japan is not included in the program. I shipped out with Fedex International with insurance and Adult sig confirmation which the buyer paid for so Im covered either way. Ill update once the package arrives.

Seriously Seth, you should be good to go here. Let us know how it goes (I'm sure it will be fine). Most international sales to Japan, the seller commenting here with loss of 3 of 8 notwithstanding, seem to go well for us. Let us know the outcome if you would.
