I had someone buy a cheap $3 card on eBay and it turned out they were in Puerto Rico. When I went to print the shipping label the option for standard envelope was greyed out, despite it being the buyer's selection (and the only option I make available).
After a bit of research, it turns out that standard envelopes can be sent to Puerto Rico (as they should, since USPS considers US territories as domestic). The issue lies with how the buyer enters their shipping address in eBay. If they enter Puerto Rico as their country then the standard envelope option will not be available. They have to have the country as United States and Puerto Rico as the state. Then you'll be able to create your standard envelope label with no issues.
I was able to message the buyer with my findings and he was kind enough to update his address and repurchase the card. I did have some minor issues since his address was 4 lines and eBay did some weird thing where part of it was cut off, but I just fixed the label in MS Paint and sent it on its way. Delivery was confirmed and I received positive feedback, so everything worked out.
Hopefully this helps someone who runs into the same issue. And hopefully you have an understanding buyer who's willing to help you fix it.
