Feeling the Draft: Panini America’s Monday Mail Day Full of On-Card Greatness (Video)

April 25, 2011 at 1:06 PM

The must-see experience that is the 2011 NFL Draft officially kicks off in primetime Thursday evening, which means we’re now one week closer to another rookie-filled event that football collectors refuse to miss: The arrival of 2011 Panini Prestige Football.

Slated for a May 18 release, 2011′s first fully licensed NFL trading card set will deliver the market’s first true Rookie Cards and a preponderance of penmanship from the game’s future superstars, who will begin discovering the identity of their new employers Thursday night.

Prestige’s looming ship date makes mail days like the one we experienced today all the more rewarding. Indeed, time is of the essence as the Panini America football team works diligently to procure as many autographs as possible before the packout process for Prestige is completed.

Among the on-card autograph arrivals on this blissful Monday: Coveted QBs Jake Locker, Ryan Mallett, Christian Ponder and highly touted defensive players Von Miller and Prince Amukamara.

As you can see by the gallery and brief video that follow, Prestige will once again be rife with rookie riches, headlined by the product’s autographed calling cards: NFL Draft Class, NFL Equipment, NFL Shield and 2011 NFL Draft patches and the unique NFL Helmet autographs. (The respective helmets, it should be noted, will be placed into the card as soon as the players are selected.)

Until then, enjoy this exclusive first look at what promise to be some of the most collected football cards of the 2011 season.

So, this has already been pushed back a week? Blowout shows a May 11th release date.

Wait, they made a video showing off the autographed RC's from the 2011 class, and they just got in signed Mendenhall RC's from the 2008 class? Good Work guys :)! Now thats a fast turn-around! Just 4 years apart!
Not to sound like a hater but this has to be the worse idea, Nice dark blue background and a blue pen to sign with = Fail. At least make the draft logo light so they signature shows up, and the players dont have to sign around it.

i don't understand why they refuse to design these cards so there is nice big open area for the player to sign so that the signature is actually visible.

Because their designers are lazy and want to use the same card design for the auto'd and non-auto'd version. The 30 seconds it would take to either lighten the logo or make it smaller is too much effort.

The only thing I enjoyed about that video is that it looks like my 2008 NT Mendenhall RPA should finally be heading my way.
