Are the US cards actually lesser quality? I’ve never seen one in person. I only collect Japanese versions.

Japanese cards have a nice gloss on the card, and a tad thicker

Plus not all Japanese packs guarantee you a hit. There are packs with all common/uncommon. I prefer that but that's just me. No overprinting of stuff.

English cards are flimsy, surface feels like sandpaper
Every pack guarantees you a hit, whether it's a non holo rare holo, v, vmax, etc

100% agree, I can't read or speak Japanese, but I only collect Japanese Cards.
My kids like the English versions, but agree, the shine/flair and card quality/stock are much better on the Japanese sets.

Going into the city to pick up a few more boxes later this week, hoping for better results.

The UR (ultra rares) look incredible in person. Crazy hard to hit too. I’ll take a better pic of the one I pulled.

Wow nice! I love the full art cards in this set too.
