Someone messaged me an offer for a card but didn’t put an offer on the listing which has best offer option. The entire message was “$3”

Not sure if this person is trying to get me to sell it off eBay or they just don’t know how to use eBay.

No they want to only pay you $3 for your item and want you to respond by sending offer message of $3 for the item. You can say No or you can send them an offer. Your card your choice.

Ok. Usually when I get an offer the person makes an offer through the listing not by messaging. I’m not a high volume seller so I guess I just haven’t had anyone do this yet

Maybe they just missed that it has an offer option. The only other reason I can think of is they dont want to use up an official offer, since you get a limited amount....but for a $3 card, that would be strange.

I have horrible experience when I send offers to these guys. They send a message and you send an offer. *crickets*

80-90 percent of the time they ignore the offer, that they asked for!

I agree , because most of the time it is a low ball offer.

Once I had a buyer message me an offer, I sent the offer, got ignored, they messaged me about 3 months later with a higher offer, I sent that offer, was ignored for a significant amount of time, messaged them stating they had contacted me multiple times about the card and was wasting both our times (I was motivated to get rid of it, honestly, or wouldn't have cared), they finally accepted.

One message last week just had a "wave" emoji and a number.

Sometimes I use the "seller offer" feature and the person declines with a response. Wish the system would notify me, and wish it would unlock their username when they do that since they're obviously attempting to make some kind of contact (mostly so I can add them to the block list if they're lowballing).

In my relatively limited experience, anyone making an offer via message and not the BO tool is NOT worth the hassle.

The exception would be if the offer is very close to the BIN price, then I'd make sure to look up his feedback given data to see if I'm dealing with a potential problem buyer. Assuming all's well, I'd send them an offer in this case.

But again, the vast majority of the time this happens to me - maybe 8-10 times per year - it's not worth it. Two or three times in the past would I engage with the buyer and none of those times resulted in a sale but only more back and forth, usually with additional demands or requests.

Unless the buyer is quadriplegic typing with a mouth stick, they have no excuse sending that as the entire message. It's like walking up to a table at a card show, no hi or anything, and blurting out a price. Obnoxious.

No, for example, I have a card for $100. They ask me I can accept $75. I send an offer for $75 (reply with offer) and they never accept or decline.

I’ve had a lot offers this way lately. You send a counter and then no response.

Yea I've had this happen. Gotta be something to do with human psychology here, like the person cant commit. Which also explains why they are offering through message vs just sending an official offer (because that's a commitment, which has some repercussions if they dont pay)....it's as if they just want to see if you'll accept X price without having to commit.

I usually just respond with a quick message thanking them for their offer and that the auction has a best offer enabled and to please make an offer through the listing. Typically never even get the offer.

I've been getting more of these on my BINs. I'm not a big volume seller. So this doesn't bother me. The way the market is right now, I'll consider the offer and 1) write back and say my price is firm; or 2) send an offer.

Seems like they're trying to get a quote. Like you said, if they make an official offer, they are responsible for it.
