Running a sports card swap night

Hi Everyone, I work at a library and I just got permission from my boss to start a sports card trade night for the public. I was wondering if there are any shop owners or anyone else that has run such an event and could offer any words of advice to help it run smoothly. Thanks in advance!

We had a great one in Anchorage. One thing of major importance is to not have seasoned collectors fleece the newbies. We worked well together and people didn't feel cheated.

Ensure it's clear that participants protect their boxes. Too many hands can create an opportunity for the unscrupulous. There was collector that was taken advantage of and had tens of thousands walk-off. Lastly, if you or someone you know can record the trade night that would be awesome for us to see. Maybe even have a local high school multi-media class volunteer to do it.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I appreciate it. Taking it a step further, I was wondering whether anyone has had success getting a current or former player to appear at such an event. I want to find someone - doesn’t have to be a big name - but don’t really know how to go about doing it.
