Endy is my slight homer pick. Kid went from being a toss-in from the Mets to absolutely raking and has turned into one of the best defensive catchers in the MiL. Kid is a stud and hasn’t missed a beat moving up to AAA today.

He’s a 24-year-old who went undrafted out of college. And he’s putting up a Yordan-esque stat line.

But of course, the award is really “Best Performance by a Top Prospect.” Which is fine.

*Mervis was drafted out of high school but opted to play at Duke. Then he wasn’t drafted out of college.

Saw him as well and was incredibly impressed. He’s also bilingual, which helps tremendously as a catcher. He got some work as an IF as well, so the athleticism is there.

I remember seeing a BCA of his somewhere for $28. Saw one AB where he got a HR. Went back to buy it and it was gone. Alas.

Of the guys I saw in SAL and EL, the ones that really popped out were Gunnar, Endy, Volpe, Painter, Espino, Grissom, Francisco Alvarez, Norby, Cowser. I know it’s tough to give a POY to a college guy but Norby and Cowser put up loud seasons in AA.
