Acetate cards crop up from time to time in various products. Curious what the collector world thinks of them. I think they are kind of cool and I enjoy collecting them.

Acetate cards were cool back in the 90's when I collected, but most of the one's from my youth have yellowed quite a bit. I know current cards use polyethylene terephthalate glycol instead of acetate, but it has turned me off to these cards.

I like acetate cards in general, don't like autographs on acetate.

They look great as long as the quality is good.

As per Jean of Arena Design, the ones that haven’t yellowed by now will never yellow. She explained how only certain areas on the acetate sheets were faulty.
Plus there are some 90s acetate sets where that just doesn’t happen.
This is completely different than refractors, which are still turning to this day.
I wish it also applied.

I really can’t remember. She’s done a bunch on different shows/pods.

Yes! I do love acetate as well. Some of my favorites are acetate. Edges and corners don't chip, just hate yellowing.

Those old Webber/penny/mashburn acetate cards made by Ken Goldin’s Classic were pretty dope

Exactly why I always thought premiums for “high grade” acetates were hilarious. I’m not talking about those also with cardboard or a print layer that didn’t take especially well to the plastic. Those really even out the edge and corner givens.
Let’s hear some favorite sets. If I had to pick just 3 it would probably be:
Quick Strike
Titanium
Star Power Supreme

I like them but they make me nervous like refractors. I have seen edge chipping inside the slab on titanium and 96 court masters MJ. Not only have the edges flaked off where I can only guess the person slabbing the card has hold of it putting it in the slab, but then the piece that flakes off is just floating in the slab. I've seen multiple 9.5s of titanium Jordan with pieces of the ball missing and his jersey at the bottom and been able to track it down in the holder. Also 96 court masters as well. The ball on it also. Enough where I don't own a titanium. I stopped looking at them. I agree though it is a great card.

Forgot about Starring Role. Would've been great to add more to the checklist. Jam session is an awesome design. Just needed Vince and AI in it.
