Hey all - I am newer to the basketball scene and usually dabble in football. With that being said, what type of premium rookie card do you think is a good investment right now and looking forward? I am looking at a Panini Prizm Purple /#99 to maybe buy but wanted to get some opinions?
I know it’s similar to football with optics/prizm/NT and etc. but not sure if value still holds the same! I was thinking a prizm numbered rookie was the premium route to go since NT is out of my price range. Any feedback is appreciated!

Panini Prizm Silver Prizms are the way to go , non numbered. IMHO the only time you go with a color Prizm is if the color matches the player uniform, Purple or Yellow Lakers, Blue Mavericks, etc.

I really like the Purple /99 and even blue/199.
Good picks.
Silver is a staple.
I really like Revolution Rookies, Galactic preferably but Cosmic /100 are nice.
Court Kings level IV if you can manage it, or level III or II depending on budget

Thanks for the responses! Yeah I was thinking the /99# PSA 10 could help for long term value since obviously it is harder to get. I was going between a prizm card psa 10 or a cheaper style card to get a rookie auto instead. Leaning the Prizm route still.
I’ll look into those other suggestions drobfan

I think you should switch words from "Investment" to "Speculate".
With that said, Optic Rated Rookie On-Card Auto.

As an investment, gold (true) #/10 rookie cards tend to hold their value the most. So, if I were looking to do it for a mere flip investment, I would start as soon as Prizm product hit the market, especially cards of those rookie players that standout over others. Other nice eye-catching Prizm rookie parallels for many collectors are the mojo #/25 and Prizm orange #/49.

I guess speculate rather than investment is fair if you want to nitpick.
Anthony Edwards is one of the players right now but also wondering for future rookies too since I am getting back into the hobby. I wanted to get a nice rookie card to hold since it provides a bit more incentive to root for Ant haha. I know he’s already priced up and has it already baked into his cost but love his long term potential (like many others). This was more for “like to buy who I like to hold” rather than flip for quick profit. I know obviously it can go south from an “investment” pov in the long term if the player doesn’t become a HOFer. Just trying to get some feedback on a good card with long term “upside” for value for a thousand or two. Again, appreciate the feedback since I am just getting back into the hobby.

I personally prefer Optic over Prizm.
