What are some active, non rookie players that you can't figure out why they are generally priced higher than you figure they should be?
I'll start:
Kyle Pitts

I think the better question is what player isn't higher than you expect it to be. Most of the hobby is overvalued and is correcting.

Joe Montana and most HOF QBs somehow sell similar to or less than guys like Brock Purdy.

trust me, you don't want to debate this question.
i might be the biggest Joe Montana fan :D, and i went crazy debating how in the hell Montana's rookie was almost the same value as Marino and Elway,or why it was worth about 10X less than Namath's when those dudes didn't have the resume Montana had.
then i finally understood about the BBD...the bigger better deal. nobody wants Montana, they want Herbert.

Yeah but that's not really even the biggest point. It's surely a large part.
Modern QBs for the most part sold better than HOFs before the pandemic.
The bigger concern (like every other investment vehicle right now) was the growth rate at which EVERYTHING was growing at. HOFs are like value plays so they will even be affected by the correction but not at the rate modern will. HOFs were never really more expensive than top tier modern players. It's simply because they can never add any achievements since they are retired so that is reasonable that Montana should not be growing at faster rate than Herbert
Disclaimer I am not talking about vintage I don't know that market at all.

At least Herbert has potential to be a legendary QB. Im talking about recent busts and average players. Purdy, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Baker Mayfield, Davis Mills, Kyle Trask, etc. Guys like that who were/are selling absolutely sky high.

Please stop. We are talking about Montana and how many playoff wins do any of the guys you have listed above have?
The point is modern is all speculation and we have enough evidence to justify why Mayfield will be just as successful as Herbert.
That being said, until they are physically out of the league they will all have crazy valuations because there is still a chance that they live up to the price they are currently going for. You will never have a big swing in prices for Montana, P Manning, etc once they retire. Their careers are over. Just how markets work, when modern gets propped up, these retired HOFs ultimately grow but at more realistic rates.

This is why I am sticking to vintage. Let the speculators destroy their wallets buying baker mayfield's until they realize, he isnt ever going to be a HOF'er.

1. no one thinks baker is a hofer
2. baker doesnt have to be a hofer for his crap to be worth money
3. there are retired vintage people who arent hofers
