Hey y’all,
I’m in a bit of a dilemma, I sold a hockey card on eBay for $1100, I’m a seller from the US and the buyer is from Canada. I did offer eBay global shipping in my listing but wanted to know if the card goes to eBay authentication first before being sent to the customer? Or is this service for US only? The card is graded by PSA and is also DNA certified. After the purchase the buyer was a little hesitant and did not understand the difference between card grade and a signature grade, my card has both. He finally felt okay about the sale but now I’m a bit uneasy for this sale. I had good description and pictures of the card.
Thanks.

Ebay authentication is only for US seller to US buyer, so this would not go through authentication.
Also the threshold for authentication is 250 or more.

If it's being shipped through the international shipping program you are still protected pretty much the same way the authentication route would protect you.

I was curious about this, since I don’t do international shipping. Surely the buyer can still claim INAD though? One of the major things with authenticity is they can’t and it’s a final sale.

EBay deals with it. Just like with the old GSP

That's remarkable, didnt know that. So in the following situation:
Seller in US sells something to someone in Germany.
Buyer claims he got only half the order (5 cards out of 10). Even though he got whole order.
What then happens when German buyer claims INAD?
What if the listing is just a single card and the German buyer claims scratches? Or claims he received a different card?
The only way to actually protect against the above is to have someone literally inspect/authenticate the items as a middle man. That is the only way ebay authenticity can cut through INAD and create the concept of final sale, since there are employees at CSG and PSA who are inspecting the contents. Does GSP or ebay International do this, and inspect the item in transit?

I have had multiple inad issues on gsp and the new program and all of them were handled by ebay.eBay. main reason is once item is in possession of another how can anyone be certain the issue was caused or is on the original sender.
Even If a buyer uses other reshippers if it can be proven item was reshipped the seller is not responsible.

Yea it does say in the help page on international shipping that the sale is covered...this is surprising to me. So if a dishonest seller sends something totally different, and international buyer claims INAD, then ebay just covers the whole thing. I dont see how this can work as a policy. Was there anyone at the global shipping hub even inspecting the contents, like ebay authenticity does. I figured they just send the package on.

It works I have even had items that were not allowed to be sent to a certain country sent to GSP ebay sent and email explaining the item they received was not allowed to be imported into Italy. They refunded the buyer and allowed me to keep the money. They dis this before they ever shipped.
It's likely some of the additional fee they charge buyers is fir an insurance policy of some type

Wait, so you CAN sell & ship internationally through GSP with eBay Authenticate with ZERO concern?

No. International does not qualify for the AG. However items sent through the international shipping program offer similar protections for the seller

Ok, thanks for this. Then it's my understanding that I would be protected from claims of lost packages and shipping issues BUT I'm not 100% sure I would be protected from a seller claiming INAD OR bait-and-switched and I'm not taking that chance for a card of this magnitude.

Generally once it arrives at the reshipper you are covered in all cases through the international shipping.
Fwiw Japan is generally one of the safest international shipping locations
