There's clearly demand for 1st round quality quarterbacks but is there a supply of 1st round quality quarterbacks?

Hooker was surefire RD 1 before his injury, and I think he still goes round 1. If you are looking for franchise QB's, this is the list of QBs advertised as such. So if you are a team seeking a franchise QB, yes, you usually try to get them rd 1. The next best QB is Tanner McKee. He's 6ft5 over 200lbs and pure pocket passer. In a league that is moving away from pocket passers, who's left? Anyone else down below is a gamble. So yes, if I am picking top 12 and I want a advertised 'franchise QB', then I DO want one of those top 5. If I just want 'a guy' who may or may not turn out to be good, I'll wait until later in the draft

I’m all for it. Detroit still needs holes to fill. Having a $35-40 million a year quarterback who doesn’t grasp change quickly isn’t going to lead to lengthy playoff runs. Unless Detroit receives a vastly discounted quarterback contract, I would try Hooker for the long term.

Yep, no reason to move on him with his rookie contract. Bridgewater retired, so he is the unquestioned number two. Goff will get an extension and Hooker will likely just ride out his contract.

That means all the backups are going to be rookie contracts and 2 million vet minimums. If Goff gets hurt, your season is done. Same as all of the other 50 million dollar QBs.

Fanbases are so silly. The talk this offseason from the fans was. We better get a solid vet backup QB for insurance and we need a WR3. I love the fact, the roster is better than it has been a long, long time. Fans just need to take a step back at enjoy things at times. It wasn't long ago, Lions needed a RB, TE, WR2, 2 CBs, LB, and a pass rushing DE.

Believe me, we have seen our fair share of turds and re-turds that having a QB who has a skill set better than just taking a snap seems like a blessing. Lions fans don’t need to watch Dan O’ run 5 yards out of the end zone to remind us. Hines Ward could have been a better option as a Lions backup for years. I’ll take my chances with Hooker coming off a severe injury a year and a half ago than all the Captain Jack Sparrow’s as our backups.
