To throw you off the scent. If it was a perfectly placed NFL logo, it would be even more sus.

Its fake. The patch itself is not even a real 1994 75th patch. Its a cheap china knock-off. The thread is wrong (should be nylon), the stitching is wrong and you can tell it is not a real "HAY" patch that would have been worn.

Beyond that, the patch in it is too small. I bet it was cut off a hat or something. Those 75th patches were big, as was the NFL logo in them.

That's a misnomer. They don't actually have to split the cards in half, to swap patches out. It is much, much simpler than that.

I think CSG (eBay raw card authentication) will include a note that the card was not verified because patch cards are out of the scope of the authentication, unless they notice the card was tampered with or is in worse condition than the listing indicates.
But then, neither do any of the grading services.

Not quite. The card gets verified, but they include the note that it contains an aftermarket auto or relic that they are unable to verify. So basically you get stuck with the altered card and have no way to return it if you later discover it to be fake, unless you have an honest seller.

Just saw that. Insane price for that card, even if it's real.

If I were to estimate, that card should have been in the $480-$540 range all day with a 100% genuine patch/swatch.
