Still digging (https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1559863) through my old basketball collection, I rediscovered this autographed baseball. My mom purchased this for me at a card show sometime in early 1994 sometime before Jordan announced he was playing baseball but after his retirement from the Bulls.
The ball itself was made in 1993 or 1994, it doesn't have HAITI or COSTA RICA stamped on it. It's also the National League version given the facsimile autograph on it. Source - http://keymancollectibles.com/balls/1989officialnationalleaguebaseball1994.htm
The signature looks similar to a pre-Upper Deck signature when comparing it to others here - https://www.kicksonfire.com/michael-jordan-autograph-evolution/ (I can't speak to the authority on this source but the examples are helpful). It looks similar to example #10 with the "d" present in Jordan which flattened out by the time UD came along as shown in example #11.
So, about 30 years later and based on your opinion and gut feeling, is it likely to be signed by Michael Jordan, unlikely, or undetermined? Thanks!

Doesn't look authentic to me. I've seen authentic "sloppy" MJ autos but never seen one this sloppy.

Lol - looks off. Can we have an MJ auto policy where it’s “if you have to ask…”. If you have to ask about an MJ auto - it’s probably bad. The only thing worse than the bad MJ auto is the “this is my grandpas MJ rookie, let’s make a cash deal and not confirm to see it it’s a fake”.

Fair enough, thanks for the input guys. Now it becomes the fake MJ ball purchased in the early 90s that sits in the back of my closet.

Just opinions buddy. There is always a possibility it’s real. With huge hands holding a small baseball, a small ball point pen, and a rushed signature it could be real. If it really matters to you get a professional opinion. I’ve got a jordan/shaq signed 8x10 my grandmother bought me in the mid 90s from a sports memorabilia store that was in the mall. I would love to believe it is real but with everything I know about the hobby now who knows. I’m not concerned enough to send it in for authentication though. It’s still one of my favorite items and I’m just as grateful either way.

I totally didn't mean to come off as snarky or rude, I do appreciate the input! My apologies the tone of my reply came off wrong.
I think I'm in the same mindset as you, not knowing for absolute sure, knowing how the hobby is, but it being an great gift from a loved one. My mom was always convinced it was legit and it should have been good enough for me too. Thank you for the perspective.
I lost my mom to leukemia 3 months ago and I've been going through some of my old stuff she helped me collect when I was young. It's fun to see it again but hurts I can't ask her about the context around it anymore.

I didn’t get that from you at all. I know how it can feel defeating with the replies you got and just wanted to reinforce that we’re not giving expert opinions regardless of the invaluable amount of knowledge still on here. Sorry to here about your mom, lost my dad the same way almost 15 years ago and sometimes it still feels fresh. She believed it was real and was doing something special for you, that’s all that matters. Display that ball proudly.

When my wife's uncle died, he had a large sports card collection and my wife had me go through it. It was almost all junk, but there was a Mickey Mantle auto, but it turned out to be fake. We've all been there. I felt stupid for sending it in to get authenticated after I got the results back, but it is what it is. :coffee:

I think there’s an exception to what you’re saying though, and this is a case of it - his older style auto. Have to imagine there’s less experts out there on this version autograph, and harder to determine.
That said I’m an expert on neither.

Same here, I’ve got an MJ auto that my dad bought at a card show when I was a kid. I’ve got no interest in knowing if it’s a fake, it’s just an awesome memory of my dad and reminds me of how much I loved watching MJ as a kid.

The M having that same loop pattern at the end of it as the J (that always has it)was the first thing that caught my attention
Edited to add: like others have said, could be bc it was rushed and still real. But even the end of “Jordan” has too much going on vs definitely real signatures. Who knows.

Aside from the UDA beisbols with accompanying holo and COA, 99.9% of the stuff out there is fake. The 'M' and last name on yours are particularly off.

I am a also proud member of this particular club!!! :D
I bought a signed jersey in the mid-1990s from a dealer here in the U.K, long before I knew any better. I cannot exactly remember how much I paid for it... $200 max, but not enough for me to worry about. It has simply sat inside a suit carrier at the back of my wardrobe [closet] for the last couple of decades, as small reminder of the world of fake memorabilia & autos. I do though have the added bonus of a COA in the form of a slide film from the late lamented 'ASA - Acugrade Sports Authentication' company! :flex:
