I know chances are they would both be losers but what would you buy and bust if you had to at their current price?

21-high 400s
22-mid to high 600s

why not both?

Depends which players you’re trying to hit. If I was forced to chose one, I guess I would go with ‘22.

I cancelled my Topps Platinum Anniversary Pre-Order and rolled it into 3 Cases on 2021 HHN when it was about $400 a case.

I had a ton of fun ripping the HHN and walked away with some really great Autos.

Reggie Jackson 1972 World Series /99 Auto
Freddie Freeman Red Auto
Paul Goldschmidt Red Auto
Juan Soto Auto
Bill Mazeroski Red Auto
Acuna/Albies/Freeman /25 Relic

I looked at sales the other night from it have recouped about $1k out of the $1200 spent and still have the Soto Auto and tons of Action Variations, Chromes, and base sets left.

I guess what I'm saying is, 2021 HHN is pretty low risk at the current price point. You might not make your money back, but should get close and have a ton of cards to sort if you enjoy that.

edit: Ill also add if you look at the Auto checklist you do have a real shot at some monsters like Ohtani and Trout, something that tipped the needle for me at the $400 price point.

They expire in September I think, good point. I think Kelenic was a redemption, cant think of anyone else.

Ohtani, as well as some of the dual autographs.

Would think a big part of that decision would be if you're chasing Julio or not

Still thinking about picking up some 22 HHN when it gets a little lower, if that every happens.

Got the following redemptions from a case of 2021 HHN. Getting two of Isbel was a big letdown.

I forced Topps to send me them. If they were going to disappoint me twice, I was going to make them ship them both to me. Got all three redemptions sent to me within a week. Will be posting mine on eBay soon...

I wish they were that quick on my Corbin Carroll Green RC Auto from Bowman Chrome I submitted.

I've busted both and did fairly well and had a ton of fun opening. I would say the slight edge to 22 HHN because of the better RC checklist

I like 22 heritage high much better - better strength of checklist despite the higher cost.

What is the frequency of redemptions per case? Do you know if there are any guaranteed hits per case (in addition to the 1 guaranteed relic/auto per box)

I posted my case hits from 3 cases if it helps above.

I only got one redemption.

22. Wasn't great but 1 card saved it from a total disaster. Just posted results.

I know Julio is the new flavor of the month but my money is on Bobby Witt Jr. to have the longer career and better stats.

I'm not sure who all is in 2021 HHN but IMO Julio's values have peaked and will keep dropping. If he doesn't have a monster 2nd half the off season is going to be a bloodbath for anybody still holding his stuff.

Your posts are funny

Julio is the new flavor of the month? Like this month? Last month? More like last year.

Witt won't be #@#@#@#@ until he is off the Royaks and on a team that can finish developing him although there is a small chance he may find his ceiling on his own despite his environment. As of this very moment Jrod is much farther ahead

I want a peek at your crystal ball

Why would collectors who have no intention of selling in the short term face a "bloodbath" if he doesn't turn it around post all-star break?

this is a bad take, but it's yours.

also, they both have their First Topps Heritage Release in the 2022 Hi # release

22 in my opinion isn't worth the extra $220 or so a case. Sure you have JRod and Witt but that extra $200+ isn't worth it. The autos in 2021 have treated me far better after about 30-40 cases of each product. I've hit 2 Jrod redemptions so they aren't easy.

that is a lot of cases of each

what if you could only open ONE case of either 2021 or 2022?

dont forget that autos are a crap shoot, and its best to consider what is actually in the case

I'd go with 2021. The Jrod stuff has cooled way down so I'd save the money and hope for Trout or Ohtani auto. They aren't too too tough to hit and cover a case or two(Ohtani).

There certainly isn't alot. I'll say the variations still sell a bit and Kelenic and India move, Chisholm a bit.

It's not going to break the bank either way, gain or loss. It's cheap and as I had explained in another thread, I get these for my dad to open to occupy and work his mind a bit as he progresses through Dementia. So to me, it's about keeping his mind at peace from the paranoia and anxiety and unsettled feelings and giving him a task that checks many boxes for him. It's always a pleasant bonus when he gets a buyback topper and remembers a story about that player from when he was younger. It's odd how the brain works and many times those memories are easier to recall for him.

So...... Heritage certainly is more about the small bucks etc. But I'll be honest I take the autos and Relics and sort through all the variations and then have dozens of cases of the base sitting in a storage unit. They continue to pile up. My mission with this one is different. It's an affordable break in a hobby where things are rarely affordable.

If there's another cheap break like this out there I should be looking at, by all means please point me that way.

Yes, now that you mentioned it i do recall you sharing the backstory about your Dad. i appreciate you sharing it again because its not only important to you, but its important for others that may be or find themselves in a similar situation.

i can see your POV on 2021 vs 2022

2022 was my sons birth year. I have the complete base set of heritage but now high number. I’d really like to complete it but it’s just so much work. I’m a sucker for 2022 over 2021. Might buy a hobby box for my birthday this week.

An argument can surely be made for the 2022 product, far more of the bigger hits to be gotten in 2022 and the rookie crop stands out. I think 2022 has some room to drop, not as far as 2021, but another $50-100 a case I could see happening. At that I'd consider 2022 again. Blowout raised the 2021 again so I bought another 10 cases over the weekend elsewhere and will wait a bit and see what happens. Seems everyone is focused on 2018 wax right now.
