Panini has to seriously be the most lazy, uninspiring, unartistic, boring card company to ever exist.

They make one nice looking insert Color Blast and then not only do they repeat making it every year with no meaningful difference, they now make Color Wheels, Splash of Color, Water Color, Color Guard, Color Burst, Color Rush (No really folks, those are all different Panini inserts). My gosh. It's monstrously stupid. It's embarrassing. We got it folks! You know how to make insert with the word color in it.

They deserved to lose their licenses. If fanatics does anything right they won't retain anyone in the creative department.

Splash of Color

The correct name is National- Silver Wave or Gold Wave.
People pulled these hits out of National packs and listed them on ebay as "Splash of Color" and the name just stuck with collectors.

OP makes a compelling point. Color blast would be a great insert if it was a one and done but now it’s a dilute card that I have no interest in.

Color Blast would have been incredible if they used the later year 'blast' patterns in 2019, and left it at that. The first year designs mainly look pretty bad compared to these days.

Luckily Full Capacity wasn't called Full Color though :D

It's not just Panini....Topps is expanding the number of color parallels in most products are well? How many different color parallels were there in flagship this year, for example?

As long as enough collectors think that a #/299 parallel of Joe Scrub counts as a "hit", and are willing to pay higher box prices because of them, manufacturers will include them in products.
